Hunting cottage Na Brežičih - The lake Vodotočno jezero (Veža) (below Lastovec via Stare štale)

Access to the starting point:
From the Styrian side, in Luče ob Savinji, turn left for Podvolovljek or Kamnik and follow it to the right fork for mountain pasture Podveža and Korošica.
From the Kranj side, drive towards Črnivac and just below the top turn left for Kranjski rak and Luče. When you get to Podvolovljek, just keep going after Luce to the left fork for mountain pasture Podveža and Korošica.
From here on the road is the same on both sides. The first 1. 5 km is still asphalt, the remaining 8. 5 km is quite nice macadam. Just follow the signs for mountain pasture Podveža. When you get to the parking place for mountain pasture Podveža and Korošica, drive another km to the end of the road, where there is a small hunting lodge in Brežice, and park there.

Path description:
The area around the hunting lodge is idyllic. It's like a park. Our route starts just behind the hunting lodge. When we get just a little higher, there is a great viewpoint on the left over the cliffs of Lučka Bela, from which we can see a large part of our route. Below us, the Lučka Bela gorge is as close as the palm of your hand. From the left, Velika planina, Rzenik, Konj and Lučka kopa to Lastovec with the southern slope on the right. A little further on there are two more beautiful viewpoints. The path continues to climb up to where the path with mountain pasture Podvežak comes in from the right. We are at an altitude of approximately 1640 m. The trail leads straight up to Lastovec and Desko. Our route goes left over a wooden fence under the southern slope of Lastovec. The path from the fence onwards starts to descend. Once we get a little lower, all the way out of the forest, the trail goes on through the ruins of the massive fire on Lastovec in 2003. Once we are through this part of the trail, the most difficult part of the trail on our route begins. This part of the trail passes under the southern face of Lastovec and is quite exposed. Due to the debris on the trail, there is a high risk of slipping in places and even more caution is needed.
The path also climbs and descends steeply on several occasions. The last part of the trail to Vratca is again easier. It follows a gentle descent between dwarf pines. Here the path from Lučka Bela joins.
Continue to the right in the direction of Korošica, initially slightly downhill. After a few steps, the path leads to the intermittent lake at Stari Štala. Here, beside the lake, you can often see marmots running around on the grass. The path onwards begins to climb moderately again and soon leads us to a small stream, which is among the highest in Slovenia. The stream has a few small waterfalls, which are particularly prominent at this altitude. Slightly higher up, the path, which still runs between dwarf pines, leads to a crossroads, where we continue on the right path to Vodotočnik (Korošica on the left). After a few minutes of gentle ascent, the lake Vodotočnik is in front of us.
You can return by the path around Tolstego vrh via mountain pasture Podvežak.
