We continue from the parking lot onto a road (not for cycling) to a crossing, where we take a right. The road will be closed for traffic and we follow it to the sign TNP. The path now divides in two parts. We take a left and it leads us to a small bridge and we take a right directly after it. We are now in the valley of Martuljški waterfalls. Our trip will now be exposed to falling rocks and the use of helmets might be wise. The path gently ascends at first and starts to rise steeply as we reach the stairs. We cross a bridge and encounter another stairs on the other side that lead us under a wall. Another bridge waits for us, a few steps ahead (beautiful view on Martuljek waterfall). The path now turns left and ascends on the steep slopes, near the waterfall. We continue right on damp ground, almost horizontal. The path rises abruptly and leads us to a cart track, where we continue left. We reach a crossing. The path to the right leads to a bivouac under Špik, but we continue on the left, lower road that leads us to a new crossing in a couple of minutes.
We take a left over a bridge and reach Ingotova hut on pasture Jesenje in a few minutes. We take a right at the cottage and start walking along a poorly visible path that ascends gently over the pasture. After 5 min we reach a larger chapel, located on the edge of the forest. We take a right to the river and go over it, with the help of a small bridge. We find a small path on the other side and it leads us to the road that leads to Upper Martuljek waterfall. We turn left and follow the path that is becoming steeper. The path then traverses a spring and rises quickly on the other side. The steepness then reduces and we reach a crossing, where we take a left. We then traverse the steep slopes that are very dangerous, when wet. The path soon leads us to the gorge, where the waterfall is located. The path first descends with some help of protection and we reach water and go across it. We might have some trouble. The path then ascends to the point from where the waterfall can be seen. Our trip can end here, or we can go directly to the waterfall. The path to it is protected, but very damp. The ascent is dangerous and exposed to falling rocks. |
