Hiking around Mt triglav from July 1st - too early or OK?

First time post in this forum. We''re coming to Slovenia for just over two weeks, landing June 30th. Sooooon!

We''re reasonably experienced hikers but have never hiked in the alps before and never in Slovenia. We wanted to hike Mt Triglav and a little around there and were wondering about this route:

Day 1. Half day from Mojstrana to Aljazev Dom v Vratih
Day 2. Just over half day to Dom Valentina Stanica or Triglavski Dom na Kredarici (often full?)
Day 3. Summit, continue to Tržaška koca na Dolicu
Day 4. Tržaška koca na Dolicu to Dom na Komni.
Day 5. Dom na Komni » Crna prst. Long day?
Day 6. Is it possible to find a good route to Ribcev Laz from Crna prst?

Now the questions:

- Does it seem to be a good route? Is day 6 possible - to find a way down to Ribcev Laz?
- It July 1st too early in the year to start with regard to snow? We can start about one week later - would that help?
- Do we need to book accommodation in advance? How do we best do that in this case?

If you have other favourite routes we''d love to hear about them - but we would like to hike Mt Triglav - it seems a bit special. Thanx for all help and hints you can give us!

Regards,

/Roland

it is definitely too early to summit Triglav, even at the Kredarica chalet there is still almost half a meter of snow.

The chalets are already open and here's a list of contacts:

6 days are enough, day 5 will be fine, day 6 will probably end in Polje or Bistrica (no problem, it is near and the bus stops there too), the route will be through some of the nicest terrain, but be prepared for some snow. Ascending Triglav so early is a bad idea though.

Hello!
I should try to answer your questions about the planning route.
Day 1.You dont need to spend half day to arrived into Aljažev dom Vrata.Take some local car or rent bicycle or you please car visitors for free place in car near road Mojstrana-Vrata.
Day 2.Half day is right time, easyer path is Pot čez Prag, which started some 1km after Tominškova mountain path. For accomodation is better to made reservation before.
Day 3.From reach to the summit of Triglav, you can easy reach in ohne day Prehodavci mountain house and sleep there.
Day 4.From Prehodavci to Dom na Komni you will need some 5 hours of walk.
Day 5.From Komna to Črna Prst you will never reach in ohne day, because to come on half way Vogel-Šija 1880m you need 6 hours, than to reach Črna Prst another 6 hours.(So I recomended to you, that on Day 3 you prolong walking from Triglav to Koča pri Triglavskih jezerih 1685m,which you can traverse).Further is posibility on that road, that you a little descend on south sea side of Vogel ridge 1922m,through detali pass called Globoko 1828m to rest and sleep in Pl. Razor 1315m.There they produce also mountain delicious cheese.Next day you climb on top of Vogel 1922m and lead main ridge all the time to the last Črna prst mountain. From Komna you need some 5 hours to Pl.Razor.
Day 6.From Črna Prst to reach Ribčev laz or more common village Polje, you must go back to mountain Četrt, where you descend through pl.Osredki and much down to the way of valley, passing first road, than on second you turn on left and walk on that road with first turning right down to the end on the bottom of Bohinj valley, near is Polje.
Have a nice trip in Slovenian mountains and good mountain map too.Bye!
