Description: Colere (Bergamo) – With some apprehension we tackle (8:30) trail no. 603 to Albani. The refuge is glimpsed from Colere: high, sunny, set above a riot of snow. It's precisely the latest snowfalls worrying us, unaware of the slopes' danger. Before setting off we test the ARTVA. Yet the wide, already-trodden track climbing to Presolana's north wall reassures us. At every step we say we've never seen so much snow: old mine huts are buried, and Rifugio Albani (1939 m – 11:00) has a huge deposit on its roof. Here we refuel in the mild sun, cooled by a light breeze prompting heavier clothing. Then the spectacular route to Colere ski pistes. We ski them... disciplinedly, back to the village and at the bar by the large parking celebrate (late) ... 'Father's Day'.
