Description: The castle dating from the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries is accessible to the public as a conserved ruin. It originally arose as a guard post along the road to Turiec, where tolls were collected. It gradually expanded to dimensions of 165 x 61 m. Massive multiple fortifications on the western and southern sides – strong walls, towers, bastions, 4 gates made it the best-fortified castle in the upper Považie region. In 1970, it was declared a national cultural monument. After long reconstruction works, it has been accessible since 1995.
