Description: First and longest-lasting Yugoslav Himalayan expedition (1st JAHO) In 1960, the fanfares of the first ascent of Everest were still echoing around the world. In the Himalayas, it was a time of big, difficult, expensive expeditions. Our seven first Himalayan climbers set off on the journey in very modest conditions, but they were accompanied by thousands of the best wishes. Hundreds of factories throughout Yugoslavia produced equipment for "our Himalayan climbers" to the best of their abilities. The goal of the expedition was Trisul in the Indian Himalayas. Englishman George Longstaff had stood on this summit as early as 1905 (55 years earlier!). Our expedition approached Trisul from a different direction than Longstaff. They pioneered routes to the summits of Trisul II and Trisul III. Kunaver stood on both of these summits. On this expedition, he also filmed and thus became the first Yugoslav Himalayan filmmaker.
