Description: 17-11-2022: Begin ascending the track heading towards a wide saddle. Just below it, leave the main dirt road to take the marked mule track leading in a few meters to the spacious Duron saddle (1080 m) between Monte Duron and Monte Diverdalce. Continue left, ascending without obligatory path the grassy southern slope of Monte Duron. Soon reach the small panoramic summit of Monte Duron (1236 m, splendid view over Tolmezzo basin). Proceed descending the opposite side along a now evident trace following the ridge line. Drop to the next depression at 1170 m, at the foot of Monte Cuar. From here ascend again on the right meadows until finding a well-marked trail cutting the entire southern slope reaching a ridge. Climb directly aiming at the now nearby summit. The slope gets a bit steeper but soon gain a band of twisted beeches heralding the summit of Monte Cuar (1350 m). Though covered by sparse woodland, the top offers a decent panorama on the just traversed ridge line and But valley. Continue along the northern ridge crossing a grassy saddle. Climb a few meters to a forepeak where a good trace is found. Follow it crossing in false flat a sparse birch, beech and red fir wood then, where the ridge ends, descend right. Here meet a good mule track descending a bit more steeply through dense fir forest. At the end of the wood suddenly exit onto the wide Forchia Navantes saddle (1216 m) where some dirt tracks converge. Taking the leftmost branch begin return skirting at length the western flanks of Monte Cuar and subsequently Monte Duron. The numerous clearings among trees lining the road offer interesting views on the Rio Chiantone valley and small villages dotting the eastern slope of Monte Vas. In gentle descent reconnect to the outbound section through which return to start.
