Description:
The site of one of the most heroic sieges in Hungarian history, Drégely Castle crowns one of the peaks of the northern Börzsöny ridge above Drégelypalánk. In 1552, Captain György Szondy and his handful of soldiers held off the massive Turkish army advancing against the wealthy northern mining towns for four full days. The castle reduced to ruins is a splendid monument to the unparalleled heroism of Hungarian warriors.
