Bavarian Pre-Alps - Mountain Tour to the Rötelstein

After an exhausting work week, a small and short hiking tour was needed quickly. Since we didn't have time to plan a longer and more demanding tour, we chose the Rötelstein near Ohlstadt. The approach, just under an hour, was particularly short. So for our standards late, only around 9:30 a.m., we started at the Ramm parking lot. On beautifully laid out paths, it goes over numerous bridges past the Kaltwasserfälle. Then we pay a short visit to the Schaumberg ruin. Not much of the castle is recognizable anymore, but from up there you have a great view. Shortly after the ruin, we take the right branch towards Großer Illing (1,313 m). The path there is not marked but well developed. After the Große Illing, it goes directly to the final summit goal, the Rötelstein at 1,393 m. After 950 Hm and 13 km, the tour ends and we treat ourselves to a delicious ice cream at Eisdiele Maier in Ohlstadt before heading home.
