@rezist Matevž, Blaž, congrats. Been convincing climbing partner since last year, didn't work, mowing. Forgot about you two, shame. More in private.

Under Mountain list - Goriško, Notranjsko and Snežniško mountains - Slivnica 1114 - 5 paths well described. Suggest up from Cerknica and down SE to Martinjak (or a bit longer, less steep, to Grahovo). In both cases you reach a gravel road where you turn right towards Cerknica (gravel road runs parallel above the regional road Grahovo-Martinjak-Cerknica). Option also descent to S and then SW towards village Brezje, from there by road to Cerknica (this path goes partly also on the gravel road that leads from Cerknica towards Slivnica). Also check the map, which opens with a click under each of the path descriptions to Slivnica. Good luck, nice weather and views I wish, if you go already today.

We were early in the morning sun all the way through the forest and were already returning when the next ones were arriving at the top. In such ice better on the ridge, where there is compact wind-packed snow and less slippery to the top. That was also my advice on the return to those we spoke with. Safe steps to everyone wherever and good luck.

Same on 22.7., Sunday. Despite 1.5 hour drive to Kamniška Bistrica, we were early and at 7 in hut at saddle. Nice chat with hut warden and view of excellent art exhibit mainly Himalaya peaks - artist Cene Griljc. Below pleasant fast walk, at saddle fully winter conditions, cold strong wind and some rain drops. We skip climbing Upper Pillar (corr. note Klemen) to Šija Brane and all three head through strong wind on trail to Šija. There still strong wind, wet rock, foggy. Partner sadly eyes harnessed rope, but further on we gear up and head from trail up rocks. Wet rock, lots of scree, wind and thickening clouds reason after few pitches to traverse right back to path below summit. Up to top where our planinka already quite frozen. But excited by meeting hare just below summit, both surprised walked together a bit. Descent, lower down some view to Okrešelj and valley ahead. At saddle wind even stronger. Short in hut and back to valley, at Bistrika spring refreshed only feet this time, as after cold wind more refresh not appealing. Nice day in mountains, views next time, all to see still there.

On the approach from Tamar and then from Kotovo Sedlo we (I was alone but caught up at the saddle and joined three younger hikers) saw your group (stankoju) in the fog leaving the summit, which really had no view. We weren't in a hurry and waited almost an hour. It was worth it, it cleared up and views stretched far and wide.
We returned to the saddle the same way, fixed gear ok, but need to be more careful due to gravel on ledges, especially where there is no protection. Lower under the saddle, at the junction, I decided to descend right via scree. Marks were lost and it went somehow, at the start I kept more to the left, then mainly looked for easier passages. It goes fast really, but it's a looong scree field and requires quite some leg endurance. Then through the forest it's a more comfortable pace. The wind didn't let up in the afternoon either, gusts were still so strong at the hut that I instantly got the bowl and drink in my lap. Yeah, when I wanted to relax a bit with a view of Jalovec. But since I still had to go to the Planica giant, I dried off. It was a nice day.

On Friday we were there, from Pecol pasture, grassy slopes to the mountain full of flowers, marmots and higher chamois, one of which greeted us right on the summit. Path and protections all in excellent condition. On ledges much scree, careful step. Above ladder/upper cables marks even rarer, watch not to stray behind cairns more to the left, where climbing more demanding. If early and plan to return same way, from ridge can go right on traverse (pathless) towards Zabuš, view of mighty west walls of Montaž. A bit late info and reply, because today we also ascended Viš and just home. Nice day and safe steps.

Igor, thanks for several answers to our questions and recommendations for next at parking after tour end. Soon back to this wonderful part of Julians. If knew who we talk to, more questions. But next time, believe we'll meet again in our mountains. Wonderful day behind us, full of unique views that imprint forever.

Has anyone been to Jalovec these days, asking about conditions, LP
vik15. 03. 2012 11:13:29
These days I did Triglav and Grintovec, it pulls me to Jalovec for Saturday. Anyone up there these days, what are the conditions, anything special? From where? LP
vik9. 03. 2012 07:57:38
Who has been to Grintovec these days? What are the conditions like, path, anything special? Asking the same as the previous one, who got a ''delightful'' answer though, but not about the conditions.

Great, you pulled it off and were rewarded with the sunrise. How is the snow to Kredarica?
How is it from Kredarica in the wall and along the ridge? Equipped? Best, Vik
