Here's my opinion too. There are several different fitness levels, including short and long hike fitness (of course in mountains). Short hike is usually around one hour, to a nearby hill or mountain, long one say three hours or more. If you maintain fitness for short tours, it doesn't mean Triglav won't kick your ass. So, if you plan a long tour (5 hours or more), do at least three tours of about three hours beforehand (say one per month), it'll be much easier. I'm talking only about ascent hours, as written on the red signs.
As for speed, just this. There can be only one best, the rest of us are somewhere behind. Where exactly doesn't matter at all, because we don't compete, we enjoy nature, views and good company. Compare only to yourself, of course if you want progress, otherwise don't worry about times. In any case you overtake all those at home on the couch.
And one more wisdom. The summit is halfway, the goal is home on the couch.
