Here's my opinion too. There are several different fitness levels, including short and long hike fitness (of course in mountains). Short hike is usually around one hour, to a nearby hill or mountain, long one say three hours or more. If you maintain fitness for short tours, it doesn't mean Triglav won't kick your ass. So, if you plan a long tour (5 hours or more), do at least three tours of about three hours beforehand (say one per month), it'll be much easier. I'm talking only about ascent hours, as written on the red signs.

As for speed, just this. There can be only one best, the rest of us are somewhere behind. Where exactly doesn't matter at all, because we don't compete, we enjoy nature, views and good company. Compare only to yourself, of course if you want progress, otherwise don't worry about times. In any case you overtake all those at home on the couch.

And one more wisdom. The summit is halfway, the goal is home on the couch. mežikanje

Just info for more regular visitors of Ljubelj parking. Official gazette 36/2019 says annual fee for this lot 20€. I assume it's paid at Tržič municipality.

What does it mean that the path is closed? Maybe that the society doesn't maintain it and doesn't know the path's condition or maybe that walking on it is forbidden. Because if they mean the second, they should think again well. They can advise or discourage me, for closures and bans we have the state. Besides, someone who doesn't want to understand well-meaning advice should stay home, no closure will stop him, especially not from the SOCIETY. These closures are, mildly put, useless, what bothers me is some (wannabe) bigshots taking the right to ban into their own hands.

Legs have rested, dreams (memories) remain. If the tour were half as long, I'd go again next weekend. Highly recommend it anyway.

LP until next time. U

I also have to praise the cheese from those parts, namely from the Podkuk pasture above Tolmin. It looks just like on the penultimate picture from Gite, but it's from cow's milk. At 10€/kg, aged, very good, only the drive up is long. Otherwise, if it were more accessible, it would be more expensive or not aged.

Sorry for spamming, but I think we praise good things too rarely. When I go to Mangart, I'll definitely try their cheese too.

There's practically no snow left, what there is can be bypassed. But there's a lot of scree, sand, small rocks, so you need to be very careful when walking and climbing. The summit of J. Kočna is all cracked (and will one day just crash into the valley), which requires extra caution.
Otherwise the path is very nice and interesting. For Grintovec I don't know, we went back the same way. Good luck!
