Even in winter Brežiška mountain path is a real treat. At first quite fresh and locally icy, but with proper gear no big problems. Nice 17 km with a bit over 700m ascent. Recommend, but wouldn't park at Pension Les anymore, better here:

I used the extended weekend for gathering strength, rest and tidying, so I didn't manage farther. Thank God for the winter idyll on Kopitnik. I started from the parking under Rimske Terme along Stojanškov graben to Stražnik. I continued to Kopitnik and the hut, then back to Rimske Toplice and also to Kincl. Due to the steepness in the initial part, I would repeat the tour in the same direction. Total 10 km and 750 m elevation.

Foggy-cloudy weekend in Styria offered an ideal opportunity to visit the highest peak of Čičarija. A beautiful circular tour from Prešnica with descent to Podgorje was done (hard to decide in which direction it's better to do it). We walked a good 13 kilometers, overcoming nearly 600 meters of elevation gain. There was quite a crowd at the hut, but let's leave it at that, since I was part of the problem myself. Thanks to the locals for their patience with newcomers, velik nasmeh .

Last Thursday my brother and I went to Menina Pasture, for a change from the south side. To the starting point in Okrog near Motnik we were accompanied by such dense fog that I "barely drove". Parking can also be puzzling, but friendly villagers advised us where we could leave the car. After cca. 400 meters we reached a fork, headed towards Osek and continued following the marked path. It directed us north past Vrhlaz. I emphasize this because everything is well marked on the terrain, but not on the 2023 PZS map. Snow surprised us quite quickly, but it doesn't require special gear, velik nasmeh . From Vivodnik or the Hut on Menina Pasture we popped to Jespa, but didn't risk the descent. We descended past Biba Pasture, partly on marked path, partly on STKP route. Four hours walking, 15 km, 800 elevation meters and no living soul anywhere, just peace and quiet.

I used visit to Terme Paradiso for hike to Veliki Špiček and enjoying winter sun - supposedly village Pišece gets most sun exposure in Slovenia, even more than Primorska! Well, if not true, recommend correction for sure. Parked at Jager store and then went between Church of Sv. Mihael and renovated water mill towards source of Gabernica stream. On nicely arranged but steep path (Gozdna pot Pišece) I climbed to Lovski dom, turned left to road and followed to first red sign. Already there could join Pot kozjanskih borcev, but turned to forest a bit earlier. At this point advise caution, as nearby is shooting range of hunting society. Path to V. Špiček further clear and well marked. I circled it past Bivak Velika bukev, Intermedija (where this name from?) and Kerinov spomenik. Back to Pišece past Pavlov vas and Pišece castle. Added up 12 km and 600m elevation. Next time try reverse direction!

I used the autumn grayness to visit the slopes and peaks rising northwest above Zreče. I started from the parking lot in front of the Therme (it's supposed to be reserved only for guests, so be careful), went past Zreško lake to Pavlakova cave, then to Golek. To the cave due to mud need to approach carefully! Couldn't enjoy the views, but all the more in the forest still life. Additionally the trip was beautified by visiting the ruins of Lušperk castle.

I used the forecast of bad weather for wandering around Ponikovski karst. Meteorologists did "threaten" with grayness, but the weather was ultimately quite pleasant for the start of December. Really nice trip, especially if you spice it up with geocaching.

I used Martinovo for a hike to Stenica and Kislica. I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised by the beauties of autumn nature and the challenges the path offers.

For the starting point I chose the parking lot at the Museum of 100 Frankolovo victims (hope there's nothing wrong with that, otherwise sorry), went past both monuments and then followed the road along Lindeški stream to Pavlek (parallel runs part of the XIV. Division path). At Pavlek I turned to Stenica. In between I wandered a bit around Pecelj farm, but the owner and her dog directed me properly. Definitely recommend paying more attention to the markings, velik nasmeh .
When I reached the ridge, I went to see Mala gora too, then returned. From Stenica I descended earlier than planned. The path was quite tricky due to slippery leaves, but it can be followed well. For reserve someone equipped it with unofficial red dots and arrows.
I left the forest between Ramšak and Založnik farms and headed onto a rough gravel path. Gradually it became more overgrown until it ran out. There I plunged into the steepness like a pig into slop and reached Kislica. At that point it was already getting quite dark, which is a shame as this ridge is even more beautiful than the one on Stenica. With a headlamp I continued to Špičasti vrh and descended to the valley. Past Landekar I joined the road, on which I returned to the car.

Shame it got dark at the end. I'll definitely repeat it, but in the opposite direction, add Lindek castle and maybe even descend from Mala gora. For good measure I could add Stolpnik, cool .
I did about 14 km and less than 900 m elevation gain, it took three and a half hours. I'm posting a link to the track, but I recommend a map more, choosing a better time window and trail logic.

P. S.: why the Canadian flag on Stenica?

Yesterday (8.11.2025) my brother and I tackled this route but in reverse direction (finally climbed Križevnik too). Weather forecast of low clouds was accurate, but Veliki vrh still surprised us pleasantly. Trail easy to follow, footprints in snow helped occasionally. Not much snow, but enough to be cautious (or put on micro crampons). Most tricky is descent from Velika zelenica, rest of route not particularly difficult. Oriented with Garmin GPSMap and PZS map.

Walked about 6 hours, less than 13 km and over 1100m elevation. Sharing track but recommend map more, velik nasmeh.
