Today (04.08.2012) from Vitanja to that beautiful solitary hill that somehow hides among the surrounding higher or better known hills. Start from Vitanja, through the village and then up a very steep ridge to the first rest area and to the Vodovnik farm. After the farm again in the forest, on cart track, path, muddy cart track and trail along the meadow to the ridge where the steepness finally eases. A bit before the ridge there is also a viewpoint, but further is Marijina roka, a shrine that serves as shelter in rain. A little more and the summit, which unfortunately offers no view. If it did, it would be quite limited, except to the east where between Boč and Pohorje you could barely see to Hungary (Mala Gora / Stenica can be seen from tall buildings in Varaždin)

The next riddle will be solved by locals. On some maps that hill is Stenica, on some Mala gora with highest peak Stenica, what is true?

Second question: is it possible (and how) to climb to the ruins of the old castle located more to the south?

Today (30.09.2013) after one year again on this hill that is somehow hidden and neglected among the other surrounding mountains. Start from Vitanja, steep ascent through forest to the weekend house and mountain farm Vodovnik and then to the top. At the top just sign the book and quickly to the shelter Marijina roka. Unfortunately the rain was quite strong and the shelter was completely wet. Quick change of clothes and even faster down. Only from Vodovnik I went down on unofficial path (at the weekend house turn towards hunting observatory right). This after some serpentines reaches some farms 500 m east of Štajnhof and Vitanja. It is a bit longer, but much less steep
Unfortunately rain ruined the experience, rest at top and view, but still it was okay.

09.02.2014. Again on Mali gora / Stenica. A new path variant has been made that bypasses the Vodovnik farm (and slightly lengthens the path).
Along the path there are some fallen trees, above 800 m.a.s.l. there is still quite a bit of snow that is icy and slippery.

13.09.2015.
Finally back again on this beautiful lonely and quiet mountain. As always, the ascent from Vitanje on the steep path. Now the path crosses a newly made forest road. Before the meadow of Vodovnik farm there are some freshly fallen trees.
Back, I again pieced together an unofficial path that descends from Vodovnik to the asphalt a few dozen minutes to the starting point.
Very beautiful mountain. I also exceptionally like Vitanje as a place...

Again on Mali Gora / Stenica. As always up from Vitanje, but down a bit around - first across the meadow a bit below the 1000 m.a.s.l. line, then from Vodovnik on the forest track that in a few bends reaches the asphalt a bit more east of Vitanje. With me was friend Cviko.

On Sunday I went to the mountains in the east, where there was still sun in the morning. On the summit ridge of Stenica I was surprised by strong wind. Otherwise, the path from Lindek castle is very steep in places and suitable for maintaining fitness.

Yesterday we did a circular path Beli potok - Lindek castle - Stenica - Kislica - Beli potok.
The path is normally passable, to the top of Stenica it is well marked, then we continued along the ridge to the track and left towards Vrhivšek farm, descent past the chapel towards Kislica and along the track to the start of the steep marked path to the Kislica ridge, followed by descent over Špičasti vrh back to Beli potok at Frankolovo.

Today we headed to Stenica. The path starts in Spodnje Stranice (NOB cemetery). Along the mostly asphalt marked path we go to the junction for Lindek castle. Further still some asphalt to the last house, then into the steepnesseek, which doesn't let up until the ridge. On the summit ridge the path flattens, but still drags to the goal. At the top everything is as it should be, just no viewzmeden.
Along the path you can already find flowers of teloha and resja. We return the same way.

Stenica (12.04.20)

From home, how else. Past Strnad and Lindek meadows on the hunting path to the top. Return along the ridge back for half-hour lounging on Strnad meadow and down to the valley. Today conditions were quite exceptional regarding the heat.

Some photos from yesterday's trip Vitanje - Marijina roka - Stenica - Goležev grad - Vitanje.

The walked path is normally passable, just slightly overgrown in places.

Best, Tadej

I used Martinovo for a hike to Stenica and Kislica. I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised by the beauties of autumn nature and the challenges the path offers.

For the starting point I chose the parking lot at the Museum of 100 Frankolovo victims (hope there's nothing wrong with that, otherwise sorry), went past both monuments and then followed the road along Lindeški stream to Pavlek (parallel runs part of the XIV. Division path). At Pavlek I turned to Stenica. In between I wandered a bit around Pecelj farm, but the owner and her dog directed me properly. Definitely recommend paying more attention to the markings, velik nasmeh .
When I reached the ridge, I went to see Mala gora too, then returned. From Stenica I descended earlier than planned. The path was quite tricky due to slippery leaves, but it can be followed well. For reserve someone equipped it with unofficial red dots and arrows.
I left the forest between Ramšak and Založnik farms and headed onto a rough gravel path. Gradually it became more overgrown until it ran out. There I plunged into the steepness like a pig into slop and reached Kislica. At that point it was already getting quite dark, which is a shame as this ridge is even more beautiful than the one on Stenica. With a headlamp I continued to Špičasti vrh and descended to the valley. Past Landekar I joined the road, on which I returned to the car.

Shame it got dark at the end. I'll definitely repeat it, but in the opposite direction, add Lindek castle and maybe even descend from Mala gora. For good measure I could add Stolpnik, cool .
I did about 14 km and less than 900 m elevation gain, it took three and a half hours. I'm posting a link to the track, but I recommend a map more, choosing a better time window and trail logic.

Similar to predecessor, only I start in Beli potok near Frankolovo, to the path I add also visit to Lindek castle.
Conditions milder, snow over Kislica just a sample, below and on Stenica a bit more. Descents were slippery.
Since I was first time today on these hills, impressions came along. Stenica pleasantly surprised me. Due to windthrow panoramic summit breathes with pride of locals, view is really nice. World around Lindek is wonderful!
Good luck!
