I found some new product on the internet that promises "heavens" for hiking boots and clothes. I'm wondering if anyone has tried it yet? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7UR3VYQ8LU

On the PZS website it says there's a path from Velike Lašče to Kamen vrh. The path is not yet described on HRIBI.net and I'm wondering if anyone knows where the starting point is supposed to be and if it's marked. I plan to go on this path tomorrow, but without proper information it doesn't make sense to go looking by myself.

Quite a few good suggestions, especially for the time after birth, you can find in the book GORSKI ŠKRAT TE VABI V HRIBE. Or maybe ask also in the FB group Z DRUŽINO V HRIBE: https://www.facebook.com/groups/943818428993874/

Thanks, Laščan. Is it possible to buy some drink somewhere below the summit, or do I have to carry drinks with me tomorrow? The hut will probably be closed.

Any more stupid advice? Didn't you read that a 6-year-old daughter is going along?

Is this the path from Strane the one we should choose? Is it possible to drive closer to the top from Strane village with the car and thus save about 30 minutes of walking?

Should I maybe choose the path from Vojkovo hunting hut?

Tomorrow, on Sunday, I plan to go to Nanos with 6-year-old daughter. Will the weather be ok so that it rewards us with views? Which path should we choose? I think there's a gentle one right from the highway. Zurnal forecast says sunny with few clouds, hribi.net forecast rain. What will the weather be?

Čemšeničan, it is possible. But no thick hat nor fog, and I see very well (no glasses) and have hiked many mountains in my life. When I realized I was no longer on the right path, I didn't want to go back up the hill, but hoped for some turnoff to Mače, otherwise I would go to Mače from Bašelj village (and so it was). I assumed these two villages are very close and they really were. PD Kranj should do its job properly, then this won't happen. On the picture, see what poorly visible marks you have, and even those are hard to find.

When I arrived at Kališče at 10.30 it was sunny there too.

No remnants of hard snow today, but fully agree with explanation. Today danger only in stepping into snow, under it smooth rock where you could slip. Often walked like chamois on all fours to avoid slip. By the way, scared over 10 chamois camped under summit. Nice sight.

Meanwhile, behind me climbed ca. 60-year-old man to top, behind him younger couple, another proof it wasn't so dangerous.

I just got back from Storžič without crampons or ice axe. Just careful steps, and it works. Of course, individuals are differently cautious. Snow was wet - southern and sometimes it sank to my knees. I missed gaiters more, came back to the hut with soaked socks and shoe insides.

But I have lots of criticism against path markers, got lost on the way back from the hut towards Mače village where I left the car and ended up in Bašelj village. Yes, could try harder especially with mark frequency. No use having "beautiful", even kitschy, mountain signs on some path parts, in between old and quite rare. One big minus for PD Kranj from my side!

We were already on the trip in September. Costs visible from the above links. Cheap!

Departure date would be Thursday, 16 September morning and return Monday, 20 September evening. On request of most going, plan can change.

Thursday morning we leave Slovenia (we'll arrange pickup along the way) and after 10-11 hours arrive in Mavrovo.
A Slovenian hiker who was recently on Golem Korab contacted me and gave info he slept in
private pension at the cable car in Mavrovo, Caffe Restaurant Campari, Goran Manojlovski, 042 / 388 109 or GSM 070 / 251 005.
Price very low; he mentions 8 EUR per night. I'll call the pension later.

Friday morning drive to base of Golem Korab and then about 5 hours hike to summit and 4 back.
We'll hike as fast as the slowest can manage.
After mountain direct to Ohrid.
In Ohrid I'll find hotel, motel or better apartment to sleep.
When I know exact number, I'll start looking for accommodation.
Evening short Ohrid tour and sleep.

Saturday morning coffee in Ohrid, breakfast then slowly to Greece. Plan 3-4 hours drive to LITOCHORO, closest town
to our start. From there by car to PRIONIA start (attached photo of sign from 2002).
Then on foot to hut that can host 100 hikers. Trail about 3 hours. Here first-hand info from Greek hiker:
http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g189502-i3982-k2936207-l19157967-Mount_Olympos-Thessaly.html#19157967
Sleep in hut. Bring sleeping bag (as suggested by Greek hiker)

Sunday morning to summit, about 3 hours hike. Then back to start and options:
a.) to LITOCHORO (18 km from PRIONIA), seaside tourist town, rent apartment or hotel, swimming, beer,
b.) back to MK to OHRID or SKOPJE (save money as MK cheaper than GR)
c.) back to SLO, rotating driving as we'll all be tired

Contact your friends, acquaintances and colleagues if anyone wants to join. I think we'll have more fun with 7-8 in
van than just 4 in car. Especially drive will be more interesting and pass quicker.
