In Jezersko we have a somewhat more eventful spring this year, as for almost a month we've been woken by extensive century-old landslides in the eastern slopes of Kočna. Čedca Waterfall has completely changed its shape. At the base at least 50m thick material has piled up, at the top the start of the waterfall has also changed. I think the height of the waterfall is now less than 100m. More precisely it will be determined after spring rains, when the terrain dries and settles. Here are some today's pics. cheers

Due to all-day snowfall already in the valley at Jezersko this weekend, Czech Hut will not have the restaurant part open. Winter room is normally open. This year a gas stove has been placed in the vestibule on which it is possible, with normal use, also to cook something. Mountain greetings, ToneK

On Saturday the passage through Žrelo was a bit scratchy, the rest surprisingly good for skis, for walkers tiring because snow over waist in places, today already second day of thaw in our valley so conditions totally different by end of the week, if some frost can be ideal for crampons.

just my comment on the above correct findings,.......I consider myself almost a professional mountaineer, since for 50 years I live and move more or less in steepness and it's quite familiar to me, I model myself mainly on chamois and ibex(where chamois goes you can still get without rope, where ibex goes without climbing gear you don't go)so I use gear by inspiration,one mission is also to help other mountaineers in trouble, so I'm only satisfied when I see a skilled mountaineer in action and don't judge how he looks, since I know he'll take care of himself and he'll be satisfied too.contribution is just assessment of conditions which you best show with a picture, since people are different and that's right, see you in the hills

also two Jezerska guys yesterday did the tour, via roof to Grintovec, gully to notch and opposite gully direct to top of our Kočna, conditions ideal, just right hard and soft to focus almost all attention on surroundings, besides nature's beauties we admired chamois play on snow, end via path over Hudi Graben where trail almost fully dry and nicely marked

Yesterday (Sat. 5.2.2011) visited Skuta, in winter less visited, therefore all the more beautiful. Conditions very good, only the wall in Štruca was a bit softened and sinking a little, the roof ideal.
On the way back also to Dolgi hrbet, where the ridge was nicely firm and trodden. For a pleasant descent we skied off the ridge edge past the bivouac, the gully before Vratci we did with crampons.

Today wonderful tour from Kanonirja to Bašeljsko sedlo and along the ridge to the top from the hunting hut under Sedlam: mandatory crampons and ice axe, then just enjoy the squeaking snow and views.
Path quite well tracked, caution needed.

The path to Kočna is nicely passable except some steep snowfields where the snow is soft.

For all lovers of short hikes into the heart of Grintovci, from this weekend on Czech Hut will be regularly supplied.

The forest path is normally passable, but when you see the waterfall and you're already in the debris, you behave accordingly. Yes, the landslide is big, but there's enough space for viewing too.

On V.Grintovec I went on Monday 18.2.2008. The path from the pasture to the summit is quite snowy, but it is possible to reach the goal. Conditions change from day to day anyway. Go boldly. Anibas

I strongly agree, knowing who gives opinion is much more interesting than bunch of anonymous guests. As hill folk we should be more tolerant. cheers Tonek

Good hiking boots will be perfectly sufficient for this weekend, maybe gaiters won't be out of place either. HI ToneK

Fresh data, today Saturday 22.12.07 at 9am, path nicely trodden, snow at hut itself less than a meter, temperature plus 1 degree, for comparison in Jezersko center minus 8.
