Hello!
Several times a year I go to the mountains in winter too. On foot, I'm not a ski tourer. I properly prepare and equip for the tour: ice axe, crampons, etc. and use the equipment appropriately. On steep, hard and icy slopes, crampons and ice axe are mandatory. Meanwhile, I observe skiers who happily ski on the same terrain. I'm interested how a ski tourer protects himself (stops) in case of a fall on such hard, icy slopes? It all seems very dangerous to me, maybe I'm wrong?

If I'm willing to endure to reach the summit, I'll endure 15 more minutes of stink. Spoiled folk who think everything must be adapted to their comfort. At odds with common sense. Let's close farms in the valleys too. They stink as well.

Bagi, good comparison of both boots! I'd just add the flaw of LA: the inner part of the boot (looking at walking) is made of two pieces, not one like Tibet, so it started tearing for me already after the first scree. Stones get stuck behind the seam and wear it. Alpina is better in that regard, but it's true that the boot stretches with use and grips the foot worse. Regards, M

For me too it was a surprise. It has become a short ferrata that doesn't consider natural ledges. I believe they wanted to avoid erosion, but a bit too obvious. A short warning at the start of the path would help, that it's now harder. But still praise for the hard work of the path makers!

Regarding aesthetics of shapes and colors (calendar, bivouac etc) there's no point arguing, regarding self-promotion (calendar, bivouac, etc) us Slovenes have a good proverb about self-praise. zadrega

Here, first time at Dovški Cross. Up to bivak, down over Brinje. Nice, beautiful, just the starting point was a bit hard to find. And the path over Brinje for down (first time) I don't recommend. Upper part few cairns, mostly no trail. Had to use quite some navigation to get down nicely. Great!

No sense arguing about the likeability of the shape. Annoying is that with the shape and materials (glass) it forces another function: no longer emergency bivouacking, but regular overnighting (without proper environmental setup, read toilets). Visitors will even more than now go to bivouac to overnight instead of bivouac. For overnighting there are mountain huts.

23.11.2014: At the altitude of planina Korošica there is snow. On the top there is over 30cm. The north side is snowy, so caution in the north gully right below the top. Safer to find a "bypass" on the southern, ice-free side.

Today from Jezerca (Kriška planina) to Kal Ridge, past Planina Koren. Beautiful, warm, no wind. Too warm, so avalanche risk from sunny slopes of Krvavec and Zvoh. At least two went yesterday, today at least one just before slope crossing. I was lucky. Just below Jež peak more can go in next warm days. Also elsewhere avalanches from steep grassy slopes. Saw big avalanche under Skuta that slid far into upper Kamniška Bistrica. Shady sides icy and hard. Careful!

For two years I've been wearing Alpina Tibet, no problems, no blisters, nothing has fallen off yet despite at least 25 two-thousanders per year and many hills in between. Expecting another year. Got La Sportiva shoe of similar weight for free this year, which fits my foot less well, so next shoe from Alpina too. Plus supporting our producer, which counts for something, right? Also have 20-year-old Alpina winter shoe for automatic crampons, still wear occasionally, probably not as comfortable as today's. Calm blood and nice mountains!

The trail to Kofce gora is well trodden, by noon it had softened and slush was forming. With my daughter we continued to Kladivo, where it was more wind-packed and therefore even more pleasant for walking, of course with crampons. On the way back we didn't descend directly down the snowy slope due to avalanches, just in case. We went back the same trail nicely. No people on Kladivo, quite a few on Veliki vrh.
