Šober (Log) - Sveti Križ (Gaj nad Mariborom)

Access to starting point:
A) From the road Maribor - Dravograd, from the roundabout in Bresternica we drive in the direction of the exit for Gaj nad Mariborom, and immediately after the intersection we go once again left towards Gaj. The road ahead leads us past the Mercator store and then also through part of the settlement Bresternica, and then we arrive at the chapel, where we go left towards Gaj nad Mariborom. Further on, we drive along the Bresterniški potok, and from the intersection at Šoberjev dvor we go right onto the road towards Sv. Urban. Further on, we drive through Petkova graba, and we follow the road to the school bus stop Log, where there is also a marked intersection. We park at a suitable place by the intersection.
B) We drive to Spodnja Kungota, and then we follow the road towards Zgornja Kungota. In the settlement Kozjak nad Pesnico we turn left towards Gaj and Urban. Further on, we begin to ascend, higher up we follow the signs for Gaj nad Mariborom, later the road that leads towards Bresternica. When we arrive at the intersection, where we notice signs for Tojzlov vrh - Večernikova smer, we park at a suitable place by the intersection.

Route description:
From the starting point, we head onto a side road, along which there are signs for Večernikova smer on Tojzlov vrh. Initially, we ascend diagonally on a macadam road, when we leave the forest we bypass homestead Večernik on the right side. Behind the homestead the road flattens temporarily, and from the road a nice view opens towards the church of Sv. Križ in Gaj nad Mariborom. The path ahead leads us also past the chapel, behind which we return into the forest, through which we ascend more steeply. The steepness eases when we reach an asphalt road, which we follow to the left, and quickly arrive at the settlement Gaj nad Mariborom. There follows only an easy ascent through the settlement and we arrive at the cemetery, where we turn left, immediately after the intersection we are already at the church of Sv. Križ, where by the road there is a registration box.
