Access to starting point:
From the Ljubljana - Maribor motorway we take the Dramlje exit and follow the road ahead in the direction of Šentjur, Rogaška Slatina and Rogatec. In Rogatec the signs for Donačka gora direct us to the left. Further at the crossroads we follow the signs for Donačka gora and Rudijev dom. A well-marked road then brings us to the mountain hut Rudijev dom, near which we park.
Route description:
From the mountain hut Rudijev dom we continue on a macadam road in the direction of Donačka gora. After a few tens of meters we come to a junction, where we continue right on a cart track which starts to ascend. After a few more steps we arrive at the information board, which marks the beginning of the virgin forest Donačka gora. The cart track then turns into a well-trodden footpath which ascends in zigzags. The path, running through the forest, brings us higher to the memorial plaque dedicated to Dr. Ernst Froelich, who in 1853 blazed the path to Donačka gora. This was also the first marked hiking path in Slovenia. The path ahead quickly brings us to the ridge of Donačka gora, where the path turns left and brings us to the western peak in a few minutes of ascent.
If we wish, we can extend the ascent to the nearby eastern peak, which is 20 minutes away.

Nice little tour through Donački primaeval forest. A bit frozen path but goes without problems. At the top stamp and logbook. 15 min further the eastern summit, where the second stamp is attached to the rock.

Does anyone know if Rudijev dom on Donačka gora will be open on Friday, 22.06.? And also the hut on Boč?

There's still quite a lot of snow on the northern section, recommend small crampons.

Two weeks ago about halfway on this path I experienced, you won't believe it, a snow slab avalanche. It wasn't exactly abundant, but ice chunks the size of a human head were flying around. True, the slope is quite proper steep up there.

Why wouldn't we believe? ...in the forest, if the terrain is suitably steep, there's never a guarantee that a snow avalanche can't get you..

OK, well at least I haven't heard of anyone being buried by an avalanche on a hill 800-900 m a.s.l., so it was a surprise for me.

Today I hiked to Donačka gora via this path. The path is short, beautiful and suitable for families with children. From the summit I went to the eastern summit along the ridge, down via fixed cables to the junction and then almost horizontally along the northern side to Rudijev dom. (this second part of the path is only suitable for those experienced with fixed cables). I also saw and heard chamois. At first I wasn't sure, but I know the call of the chamois well. The hut warden also confirmed that there are quite a few families of chamois in the Donačka gora area. In short, Donačka gora is beautiful.

Went in winter 2013, couldn't sleep, fresh snow up to knees, early, still in the dark, left the car below at the water station, hut closed, road barely plowed, in front of me almost already covered track of someone ahead... hard work this, but worth every step up to the top, up there decorated spruce that awakens some euphoria in a person alone up and down, back to Rudijev dom no living souls, then first greetings and to work. well, that last to work I'll skip otherwise

How could I combine Donačka gora with Boč? Has anyone already hiked it and how long does it take? Best regards, Balončki

There are several options to combine Boč and Donačka gora or vice versa. The trail between the huts is about 5 hours according to the timetable. If we add the summits, of course some extra time. The area between the two points is of course interesting and definitely worth a visit. Based on what has been seen and written, visitors choose different options... -the most common somewhere is by car to the mountain hut on Boč, from there to the tower, return to the car...move by road to the mountain hut on Donačka gora, from there to the summit to the pyramid, return to the hut, snack or lunch and home or in the reverse variant. -the second somewhere most common is that someone "drives you" by car to the mountain hut...from there on foot to the other mountain hut, where someone comes to pick you up again...or in the reverse variant -the third somewhere also very "ECO" is by train to Poljčane...from there to the summit to the tower, descent to the mountain hut on Boč...from there to Donačka gora and ascent to the summit, descent to Rudijev dom, if there is will, extension to the source of Sotla and descent to the railway station Sv. Rok ob Sotli, if no real will, descent to Rogatec and return by train...self-sufficient tour one could say in somewhat agricultural/gardening jargon...real but strenuous. -and all other variants-dozens of combinations, on this forum in conditions and elsewhere enough records, everyone takes somewhere for themselves, abilities, time, conditions...suitable variant. The main thing is somewhere movement, everything else is a nice addition. To summarize once again between the huts according to timetable 5 hours...Lp

Today I was on Donačka gora, from the valley I came on foot to Rudijev dom and then to the top. Weather damp and foggy, but fog has its own charm too. No summit logbook at the top. Definitely repeat in nice weather.

Walked the path on 11.7.2015. It's really not demanding, it's also very nicely maintained and marked. 45 minutes of walking is more than enough from Rudijev dom to the summit. The path further to the western summit is somewhat more demanding, you need to be quite careful and have appropriate footwear. Return was in the same direction. For those planning to visit Boč on the same day: The path to Boč from Planinski dom na Boču is much more demanding and steep (Senčna pot - 45 minutes).

Very nicely marked and maintained path. Suitable also for families. I walked it in less than half an hour. At the top, unfortunately, the stamp is rather poor.

On Saturday we wanted to visit the summit of Donačka gora, but due to icy sections on the trail we turned back at 3/4 of the way. Unfortunately we didn't anticipate that crampons for shoes would be good to have, and sadly there was no info here that they are recommended.

Today went along this path to the summit. Pleasant, well marked. Windy at the top. Returning the same way.

Nice greeting. How is the snow on Donačka? Are crampons needed? Thanks for the reply.
