Pura Pasar Agung - Gunung Agung

The beginning of the route is the parking place below the temple Pasar Agung. It can be reached by a road via Selat or Muncan on the island of Bali, Indonesia.

Route description:
THE PATH LEADS ONLY TO THE CRATER RIM AT 2866 M!

The climb starts with 300 stairs to Pasar Agung Temple, where it bypasses the temple along its left walls and heads straight into the rainforest. After one hour of ascent the rainforest eventually ends. In the following two hours the path leads straight upward and it gradually gets steeper until the final few hundred meters below the crater rim, where some minor climbing is necessary, especially at a 3 m jump. A 2866m high peak of this southern side of the crater rim is eventually reached. Small dots show the way up and down. In clear weather it is clearly visible, nevertheless, the clouds gather around the mountain soon after 9 o'clock in the morning.

The climb usually takes from 3 to 4 hours and it starts early in the morning in order to await the sunrise at the top.

The best time to make a climb is from July to September (dry season).
