Poden / Bodental - Veliki Rob / Großer Rain

Access to starting point:
Over the border crossing Ljubelj we drive into Austria, and after a few kilometers we turn left towards the valley Poden / Bodental. There follows some more ascent, and then we arrive at the settlement Slovenji Plajberk / Windisch Bleiberg, and a little after the mentioned settlement the road turns left. Higher up, we reach the settlement Poden / Bodental, where we park at the parking lot next to the Gasthof Sereinig inn.

Route description:
After the inn signs for Celovška koča / Klagenfurter Hütte and Mlaka / Märchenwiese point us to the right, on the path which on the right side bypasses a bigger chapel and at first continues by the foot of the nearby ski slope. We walk a few minutes on a gently sloping grassy path, and then we reach an asphalt road, on which we continue a barely noticeable ascent. After the mill or after the house number Žabnica / Bodental 53, we continue right in the direction of the pension Lužekar / BergPension Lausegger (straight Mlaka and Celovška koča). Next follows crossing of the stream Žabnica / Bodenbach, after the crossing we go also past a chapel, and then we slightly ascend to a hamlet with a few houses, where the path from Lužekar joins us and where at the crossroads we follow the signs for Celovška koča. The path ahead leads us past yet another chapel, behind which markings of the path 603 appear, and the road starts to ascend diagonally. We walk on the road past individual houses, and at the crossroads we follow the markings or signs for Celovška koča.

Above the Vgriz / Ogrisbauer farm, the asphalt ends, and beside the path we notice a notice that we are entering bear habitat. Some 10 steps ahead from the left the path from Podnar / Bodenbauer also joins us, the road, which further on is closed to public traffic with a traffic sign, splits. We continue on the left road, which becomes increasingly worse and beside which there are markings. A little further a nice view opens up temporarily, and then the road returns to the forest and brings us to the next junction. To the right, where we continue, an old wooden sign points to Veliki Rob / Großer Rain (left Vgrizeva planina / Ogrisalm and Celovška koča).
The path ahead, which further on is no longer marked, leads us along a worse road, which in a few hairpin turns and occasional views ascends to the ridge connecting Veliki Rob and Veronjak / Hausberg.
When we reach the ridge we leave the road and continue left on a narrow path, which continues along the forested ridge. On the mentioned path we walk approximately 10 minutes and reach the summit of Veliki Rob, from which some small views open up.
