Log - Žigartov vrh

Access to starting point:
From the Maribor–Ruše road, in the settlement Bistrica ob Dravi, we turn left (right from the Ruše direction) towards Log. We continue driving through Log, and at the end of the settlement, at the intersection of several roads, we park at a suitable place by the bus stop.
We park in such a way that we do not hinder the traffic and the bus.

Route description:
From the starting point, we head slightly right onto the road by which there are blazes (left road towards Pečke, right part of the settlement Log). We ascend along the road for a short time, then before a few houses we continue left into the forest, where we first ascend steeply. Follows a walk along a smaller ridge, then we step onto the road, along which we continue a few 10 steps, then we go left into the forest, where the path continues. A little further we cross the road once again, then we start to ascend more and more steeply along a gradually also increasingly steep forested ridge. Higher the path becomes very steep and on a few minutes long section, especially when wet also dangerous for slipping. Above the steepest part the path gradually flattens and brings us a little further to a meadow, along the edge of which we continue. Follows still a few minutes of moderate ascent and we arrive at Dom na Pečkah.
Behind the hut we step onto the road, we however head to the path in the direction of Glažuta and Mariborska koča.
We continue along the cart track, across which there is a barrier, then the blazes by the shooting range lead us into the forest, through which we then ascend. After a few minutes of ascent we go from the cart track slightly right (straight Mariborska koča) and continue to ascend through the forest, where we follow the blazes. Somewhat higher we cross a macadam road, then at the next junction, by the older mountain direction sign, right towards Ruška koča. Further we cross the road two more times, when we reach it again then along it we continue right in the direction of Glažuta. Follows some descent and crossing of the ski slope, behind the ski slope then after a few minutes we leave the road and head slightly right onto the cart track which runs parallel to the road, only somewhat lower. Also along the cart track for some time we cross the slopes, when we leave the forest then we moderately ascend and in a few minutes of ascent along a partly grassy slope we reach Glažuta.
From Dom na Glažuti we descend in a few 10 steps to the nearby intersection, from where we head onto the road in the direction of Areh (left Mariborska koča, right Ruše). Along the road we ascend transversely towards the right, when we arrive under the drag lift then we leave the road and with the path continue along the marked track by the drag lift. The path ahead leads us under the drag lift for quite some time, or. by the drag lift we continue all the way to the top of it, where we go slightly left to the nearby asphalt road, which we reach in the vicinity of hotel Areh.
Here we go left across the road onto the macadam road (along the road ahead Žigartov vrh and Šumik waterfall, right Ruše) and in two minutes of further walking we arrive at Ruška koča na Arehu.
From the hut we return to the asphalt road, then we continue along the road towards Šumik, Cojzerici and Žigartov vrh. At first the path still leads by a larger parking lot, then the road goes into the forest and gently ascends. After approximately 10 minutes of further walking we arrive at the marked junction, where to the left branches the path towards Šumik waterfall and Bajgot. We continue straight along the wider macadam road, from which however we go left some minute further, as the signs for Žigartov vrh direct us left onto a worse forest road, along which we ascend to the nearby ski slope. We continue along the edge of the ski slope, higher then the path goes slightly left and transitions into the forest. We continue through the forest, where we follow the blazes, such path we follow all the way to the summit a few minutes distant.
