Access to starting point:
From the Ljubljana - Jesenice motorway, take the Lesce exit and follow the road towards Bled and further towards Bohinjska Bistrica. Continue driving towards Lake Bohinj (Ribčev Laz), where you reach a crossroads and continue straight along the left (southern) side of the lake in the direction of Ukanc and the Savica Falls. Follow this increasingly narrow road to the large parking area at the Koča pri Savici. The parking is paid.
Route description:
From the parking area, head onto the wide footpath in the direction of the Savica Falls and the Komna Hut (right path over Komarča). After a short gentle ascent, the path leads to a marked junction where the tourist path to the Savica Falls branches off to the right; continue slightly left or straight on the wide footpath towards Komna. The path continues ascending along the Savica for a short time before reaching the first of the marked 48 switchbacks. After one and a half hours of moderate ascent through the forest, the path reaches the aforementioned 48th switchback, from which a beautiful view opens onto Lake Bohinj. Here the path turns slightly right and enters the valley called Pekel, where it ascends gently for a while before turning right and climbing somewhat more steeply again. After just a few dozen steps, the path turns left again and continues ascending parallel to the valley. The gentle to moderately steep path ahead gradually enters sparser forest, from which the Komna Hut is soon visible. The path continues past a small interesting cave and higher up reaches a junction where the path to Black Lake branches off to the right; continue left on the wide path. Some traversing ascent follows; at a natural chasm fenced for safety, the path turns right and then climbs to the next junction, where the path from Black Lake joins.
A little further on, the path splits again; choose the left path towards the Komna Hut, or the slightly shorter path that continues straight and bypasses the Komna Hut (right Koča pri Triglavskih jezerih).
The ascent continues past the Pri Hubertu cottage, and the Komna Hut is reached in a few minutes.
From the Komna Hut, pass a small chapel and follow signs for the Hut under Bogatin (left Vogel, Tolminski Kuk and Planina Govnjač); the route soon joins the previously mentioned slightly shorter path.
Continue slightly left towards the Hut under Bogatin and quickly reach Planina na Kraju along a wide and quite scenic path; past the pyramid (ossuary at the Hut under Bogatin – mountaineering memorial), reach the Hut under Bogatin, located in the middle of the alpine pasture.
Starting point – junction to Black Lake 2:15, junction to Black Lake – Memorial plaque to Matej Koblar 0:10, Memorial plaque to Matej Koblar – Komna Hut 0:05, Komna Hut – Hut under Bogatin 0:15.

Along the route: Jama ob poti na Komno (1303m), Odcep k Črnemu jezeru (1411m), Brezno pod lovsko kočo na Komni (1430m), Spominska plošča Mateju Koblarju (1481m), Pri Hubertu (1492m),

Discussion about the trip Koča pri Savici - Koča pod Bogatinom

I was here yesterday on the way to the valley of the Triglav Lakes. Unfortunately the hut is quite lonely, while the one on Komna was full. Hikers pass by when going to the Krn Lakes. But the hut is in a nice location and the surroundings are interesting too. Again I can blame the caretakers for the information board in front of the hut lying on the ground. Perhaps something should be done to promote the hut in the direction of its famous past from the First World War. It is a suggestion after all!

On Saturday the decision was made to go to Lanževica if possible, but I left home a bit late and arrived only at the hut under Bogatin. Extraordinary hut, much nicer than on Komna. Views far around, a bit of history and friendly caretakers. I already reserved for a couple of days real bivouacking for wandering the nearby peaks. It's really a super pasture.

Another one who doesn't understand why people crowd on Komna, when this extremely friendly hut at a crazy beautiful location is just 15 minutes downhill trail away. It all impressed me so much that I unplanned extended the hike to Bogatinsko sedlo (didn't have time for more), so I could stop once again in this wonderful hut on the way back .

Really nice. And today they surprised us with lemonade. That I really haven't experienced in our hills yet.

New hut keeper, new offer. The lemonade is mega! In the hut and around it, all positive energy. The fast ones can tackle a special challenge, the prize is tempting .

Sadly, I have bad experiences with the new caretaker. She is friendly but when I ordered Bogatin struklji she brought me 4 pieces - 1cm thick, 3cm diameter struklji scraps with 4 apple slices and charged me 6€. If I had ordered this as a 5* dessert I might have tolerated it somehow, but this was pure rip-off. Not everything that glitters is gold in words. Never again under Bogatin.

I have to say it was insanely nice in the hut under Bogatin. The hut is simple but very nice, clean and homely, which gives it its charm. Toilets extremely clean and well-maintained. Beautiful nature like in the land of Kekec . The hostess and assistant are very friendly, good service. Food excellent and in abundance. We had even more left. Lemonade and struklji excellent. Rich breakfast, not to mention the eggs with cracklings Everything in the mountains is a bit more expensive, but you have to leave some money up there too, as these people work very hard. Go visit the hut and the new keepers. It's really wonderful

Interesting and easy path to the hut, beautiful views return via Dom na Komni. But going back down really drags a bit with so many serpentines
