Access to starting point:
From Kranjska Gora, we drive towards Vršič. Immediately after the bridge over Pišnica on the right we see a parking lot. Here we park.
Route description:
From the parking lot, we turn onto the path to Vitranc, but we do not ascend on the mentioned path, instead we follow the path at the foot of the slope until it descends to gravel. On gravel and along Mala Pišnica we walk a little by the left bank and a little by the right bank, where occasional cairns accompany us. However, orientation here cannot surprise us, since we walk along the bank of Mala Pišnica. On our right side, about 100 elevation meters higher we see the remains of the upper path, which is closed and deadly dangerous. We walk on and stick to the right bank, and let's pay attention: after about 25 minutes of walking steeply uphill to the right ascends a hunting trail. In this way we climb to the treeline and walk on the hunting trail until the upper closed path meets us from our right. Now we walk on a comfortable path all the way to the gravel field, then across it to the hunting hut in Mala Pišnica. Here we stick to the path that goes straight. It brings us into the forest where we ascend on the right side. Let's pay attention, the forest is quite downed and there are not many cairns, we follow them and somehow direct ourselves towards some sort of saddle or gully (this is our best orientation here). When we arrive there our path and the path from Tamar through Grlo meet. At this junction we again notice the sign that the path into Mala Pišnica is deadly dangerous and closed.
Continuing, we ascend on the path towards the summit and after 30 min we meet the path that comes from Vršič. From here, where we go right, we already see the summit of Slemenova špica. On the path we walk another approximately 20 min to the summit.

Discussion about the trip Jasna - Slemenova špica (through valley of Mala Pišnica)

It would be easier if there were no signs, right? So, if you follow this description, will you find the path or do you have to be very careful? In which season would this hike be most recommended?

The best is through Mala Pišnica, in the period with little rain. It can prevent crossing if there's a lot of water. Otherwise I recommend summer and early autumn. In winter the sunray barely reaches the valley or very little, so rocks along the streambed are icy and crossing them is even harder. You must watch for the hunter's path junction that takes us up to the forest, and then from the hunter's hut to the gorge the path gets lost several times. Locals don't like blazes there as hunters tear them down immediately. In autumn with lots of leaves (even knee-deep) only those who have walked it before will find the path. Near the gorge there's a larch with a girth of about 4m and 22m high, its top already broken. Age estimated at 1050 years. Not easy to find but take a short walk and admire how it fights its thousand-year battle with the sun

I've hiked the path along Mala Pišnica several times to the point where it narrows so much that continuing would require going through the water. Does anyone have a picture of where this path branches off from the water to the upper (closed) trail?

Nearby is a small rocky ridge (10 to 15 m above the stream bed)

Michael, check your pictures. On picture no. 2, when looking at the pools you should turn steeply right up the hill and not continue on the path along the stream bed

Brane, really thanks for your description. And if one wanted to go to Ciprnik along this path by M. Pišnica, where do you turn towards it?

Aha, at those pools you go right up the hill. Super, thanks. This September I tried the upper trail, it's really quite dangerous. I got through a couple of screes, then turned back at the spot where passage was previously eased by a wooden footbridge that's now gone. Then same day tried along Pišnica and at the end where the gorge narrows tried right up the bank, but no go... very steep and crumbly. So next time planning to try from Tamar.

I would just add that due to the terrain configuration, do not go on the path when it is wet (on the ciprnik past the hunting lodge). The terrain is quite overhanging and in autumn well covered with leaves, wet roots underneath.. is enough to slip once, you won't do more.

Let me add a bit to the description:
That trail that branches off from the stream bed is actually the first one we encounter after about half an hour of walking from the start. Further on, you really only go along the stream bed to the narrowing where you can't go further. Just before this narrowing there are even two cairns. I don't know what they are for.
The description might be a bit misleading that our path steeply rises from the stream bed because it doesn't at the beginning. But already after the second, third bend it shows its character. Towards the end, you have to hold on to some rocks, the most dangerous part (perhaps the only one on the entire path except for walking in the stream bed) is just before the path turns left into the forest, about 10 meters of exposed path on practically only loose sand - best to follow the footsteps of predecessors.
After the hunting hut, the path doesn't go straight into the forest, but for a short time back into the stream bed and immediately out. This is really only a couple of dozen meters, the junction is somewhat harder to notice, I saw it from the other side when I came back after missing it.
The path through the forest is then for some time similar to the one through the forest to the hut, so easy, it rises very gently. After crossing a small landslide and in summer almost dry stream bed of the stream, it starts. At first the path is still fairly followable. Then we come to currently fallen trees. Orientationally, this is the hardest part. Go slightly to the left, there are some cairns.
Then the well-followable path steeply ascends, the cairns along it are practically unnecessary up to the junction where we can easily miss it (despite three cairns) but immediately we reach the edge of the precipice when we realize it won't go further. So we return to the junction and follow these cairns to the left. To see the next cairns, we need to go a bit to the right through the forest and after a few moments they become quite consistent,
When the cairns disappear, the path becomes obvious again and after a few minutes a small rise blocks it. DO NOT head straight up to it (we'll probably just reach the edge of the precipice) but just before it to the left follow the path that is not so obvious and we more sense it than see it. Still, persist on it, the path rises and after a good 10 minutes it turns slightly right towards the saddle. Another minute or so and we see the sign on the tree and behind it the junction of the path from Tamar!
