Žrd from Resia, start at Solbica and do circular route up Sella Buia over Žrd, descent past bivak Grubia back to Solbica. Tour very long and strenuous. Hard to do under 10 hours. In summer better not, can be too hot. Winter gear not needed, in the morning drove via Bovec to Resia, narrow road back better via Trbiž.

Bravo for your feat. As I see, no more snow on Žrd forepeak either. But some on the top, right? You obviously had a rain-free day, which counts too. lp

This time we treated ourselves to a circular variant for gourmets, start and end at Sella Nevea. Parked above lower gondola station, descended a bit and found first marks on opposite ski slope side.
Next came the unhiked connecting path 435A to Planina Gorjuda. New to us and soon we grinned ear to ear due to its picturesqueness . Well maintained path led through extremely steep and exposed slopes. Nicely secured at critical spots, but due to exposure not for everyone. Somewhat similar to nearby King of Saxony path, just much shorter. Full praise to maintainers.
Path ends at Planina Gorjuda with multitude of signposts. Part of hut renovated into bivouac with ground floor living space and bunks in loft. Continued on old mulatiera 645 comfortably to bivouac Marušič just below ridge. Path not exposed, lower through abundant greenery, higher soon into picturesque landscape with wide views to Kanin range.
After mandatory exploration of pleasant bivouac Marušič we first crossed Vrh nad Grubjami and continued ridge ascent to both summits of elegant Žrd. First somewhat lower, relatively easy access, second less visited due to abundance of deep views. Ibex found peace here.
Around here now incredibly much flowers of all colors and kinds, real botanical paradise with capital B . Not seen often and who catches these moments won't be disappointed.
Returned via upper path 632 towards Rifugio Gilberti. Crossed quite some snowfields, also fairly extensive, two quite steep. Unbelievable how much snow still considering the date  . Afternoon sun softened steps, but some chains in early hours still useful.
From hut followed descent on path 635 to valley, surprisingly fully mown. Part runs under mighty overhanging walls of Bela peč. Climbers' paradise, but numerous memorials show many ended earthly path here.
Described loop one of nicest I've hiked around here and warmly recommend . Total 25 km and 1950 m ascent, comparable to Triglav from Krma.

We did exactly that tour a couple of years ago, only in the opposite direction. I'm sure your variant is better mainly because you do those slippery rocks and path above planina Goriuda on ascent. Last but not least you can descend by cable car in the afternoon if you want to spare your knees

Last week everything was snow-free. The only snow I saw was in some hole beside the path.

Yesterday we went to these beautiful areas. Return ticket for gondola now 13€. Crowd only at hut Gilberti. To top Žrd quite lonely as most hikers rest at bivak Marrussich and at saddle Bela peč at fort. Adding bit worse picture of gondola schedule. Lp

How do you mean far? From Gorica it's the same time as to Bovec or you even arrive earlier than to Trento or e.g. Vršič.

We went there by highway from Šempeter to Tolmezzo. 6 euros toll. I meant the narrow roads there. Back from Solbica we turned to Učje on a narrow road because we were curious how it looks. Fully asphalted. But narrow. Winding. It drags on. To Učje.

I must correct you, you definitely didn't go to Tolmezzo by highway, it's quite a few km west of the highway. Exit in Carnia or Amaro, toll 6.30 eur. And yes, that road from Resia to Uccea I really don't recommend if you don't have plenty of time. Once - on someone's advice - we used it as a shortcut . Slippery slopes, narrowings of the already narrow road, long gravel bits....grrr
