djimuzl, thanks for the path description. Where we turned, the altitude was ~1600, still quite a bit to the summit. But really it wasn't clear that we didn't find the passage, though we had descriptions and Hari Dautovič path sketch. Water enough. Covered too, sun burning there. Time enough if not searching. See no go, turn, nothing bad. Not disappointed. Decided to return in autumn. Lino, thanks to you too. nasmeh

As for pathless, we have several behind. Balm for soul.

When on pathless section seems too demanding, correct to turn timely. Really nothing bad. And if you publish it, twice correct. For others to think who will go there.
Steep grasses in those areas quite orientational and technical demanding. Especially if wet, frozen or summer high. Hide many traps. Sometimes dangerous holes, sharp rocks, snakes.

7.8.2020. Even if you don't complete the tour, you still have the option to hike it later. Anyway, we didn't plan to go so soon. But the path pictures were still vivid. And the desire for these pathless sections was too great. Magical ends they are. Ticks were quite fewer than last time, mosquitoes too. Snakes none in sight at all. This time we took another path to the abandoned hunter's hut. It's a bit longer but interesting. Then along the known path to the cables. Now we are in an unknown world. Remote from paths, people. But at the second cable we met three hikers returning. Not exactly from the top but from the Gates they said, that's what they call one part of the path where there's a big rock in gate shape. We chat. We continue. Into high steep grasses. It looks all close from view. But we are still far from the gully we need to turn into to get to the saddle and summit. We have photos of one group that went here in 2016 to help. When looking towards the gully it seems all impassable. But we go. You get used to steepnesses. In the gully carefully though. Crumbly it is. Put on helmets and stow poles. No protections here. Go by feel. When overcoming first gully there's still another. And we reach grasses. There steepness right to the saddle. You go, or choose paths left right. We stuck more to the right. And when you reach the ridge views open up. Divine. Then a bit to forepeak and main peak. Stay some time in pleasant warmth. No one was there. Descent quite demanding. 1800 height meters accumulated. Tour as you can only wish for. We both agreed it's the most demanding and steep ascent. Especially compared to Briceljek, this one is much harder.

You have to be careful because there is a lot of loose scree and rocks.

The last part in grass is really steep to the saddle.

. Been up there twice. First time orientation interesting down in grasses before exiting to cirque foot. Second time when you know it's much easier. Silence there so absolute you hear it.

I agree that it's orientationally demanding down in the grasses. Before going into the gully. We thought it would be easier going diagonally to the foot. But far from it. Demanding steep passages. For descent we went lower then steeply up to the cairn. Drapr, thanks. Tour worth the effort in the embrace of sky and mountains. nasmeh

Scree there is anyway.... But romantic - hm more demanding. Also some stones fly from above.

Absolutely one of the nicer ascents for those needing peace.
Personally recommend ascent more in autumn months when grass settles and path is better visible.

After quite a tough ordeal a few years ago, yesterday on Uroš's initiative I set out on this path again. We start at half past eight, on the way I say some Our Fathers so the weather forecast wouldn't come true. It helped. nasmeh

Despite my forgetfulness, this time everything went smoothly, except at the second cable we extended the path by about ten minutes velik nasmeh

. The fog didn't lift, so above the tree line we enjoyed the sun the whole time. The grasses were dry, sadly no flowers anywhere anymore, not even edelweiss mežikanje

. In the last five tours together (two weeks) I didn't meet a dozen people on the paths. Since Uroš is a good walker, we reached Vrh Krnice exactly in three and a half hours. We visit the sister and Kobila a bit more, to Oblico, Vrh Rup and Oltarje next year. nasmeh

Interestingly, in the forest except green russulas there were no other mushrooms. On the return we stop at the bivouac for a hearty snack, as the short rest on the bench in the shade did us good. Before half past four we are at the car and already driving to Rabeljsko Lake...

Bala never disappoints, currently a botanical garden in nature. This time I approached the summit via Slapci and V. Rupe. Here and there something shows up that was once a path, actually it's pathless. The branch from the marked path is easy to find, the track then quickly gets lost. Above the scree one needs to steeply bite into the grasses, and so on to V. Rupe. According to the description I should approach the V. Rupe cirque via a steep gully. Obviously I went too high and turned to a trodden track on the ledge right, then a bit straight (north), right around the edge and via grassy gully to the top of unnamed rise. I found myself east of the cirque with a nice view. I descended towards the north and then left among boulders (not recommended). I continue over scree to rock barrier, head towards steep gully. Initially quite pleasant, then more slabs. I decide on descent and head to ledge left (like Drago40, 5.6.2017, pic 9). The ledge is steep and cluttered, more like a shallow gully, possible bypasses left on grasses. I exit on the ridge exactly before Oblice. I jump to the top too, then back same way, in the cirque this time keep left, much easier to avoid tumbling among boulders. No snake seen, many chamois. Now question for those who have been here: What's the usual approach to V. Rupe? Need to drop a bit left before start of grassy gully?

I went twice through the forest, then diagonally up. Left below me steep grasses, right a trodden path on 4th picture. So from second little forest on just traverse horizontally left and then straight up?

A year has passed and again from Bale, this time by @dprapr tips via grassy gully to V. Rupa. No more junction from marked path above Logje, snow avalanche razed it, so on scree your own way. Above Slapci first as last year, at second little forest turn left into woods. Quite well trodden path leads me through forest and meadow right under grassy gully (already top of third pic by @Dprapr) and up it to V. Rupa. This approach seems a bit steeper and shorter than upper variant. In cirque by chamois spot fox, on summit eagle. No man meet, just see two afar on Briceljka summit.
