Vremščica

@sh hello!
You can find descriptions of all paths to Vremščica in the "List of mountains" section. Click on the mentioned section and a menu opens. Click on the title "Goriško, Notranjsko and Snežniško hribovje" and a list of hills - mountains by height opens. Find Vremščica (1027m) and click, access titles open. I see you plan to do the ascent with a group of children. In this case calculate appropriately longer ascent and descent times. Vremščica is definitely an ideal goal, where to the excellent starting point, whether in Košana or Gornjih Ležečah we use train transport for the ascent. From Gornjih Ležeč it's an hour and a half ascent for average hiker from Košane a bit less. I advise you to drive to Gornje Ležeče and ascend from here to the top, and descend to Košana. Both paths are well marked and signed with mountain signs. For easier orientation you can use the mountaineering map "Slovenska Istra, Čičarija, Brkini, Kras" PZS 2011 edition. Costs around 8 EUR. Regarding bora this - if ascending from Gornjih Ležeč we feel it well only about 10 minutes below top and understandably on the top itself. If going from Košane it blows us well already at start and accompanies us all to pine forest, and greets us again on clearing below top and on entire ridge to top... Otherwise we can at least somewhat hide in shelter on by height second top of Vremščica, where new church of Sv. Vrbana stands... (good five minutes from main top)...
Nice day and weather without bora with nice views I wish you (you)!

Hribovc88 and B2
Thanks to both for answers. I already read the path descriptions, but wanted info mainly from which direction better to head up. Yes regarding bora I know it's not really recommended to head to Vremščica when blowing.
B2 thanks again, you told me everything I was interested in. I was already on Vremščica but from Senožeče.
Best regards.

Hello sh!

I agree with B2 that regarding bora best variant is from direction Gornjih Ležeč and descent to Volče or žp Košana.

But if you choose ascent in other season e.g. early summer when morning dew... then direction Volče or žp Košana is more suitable - there no high grass and consequently wet pants.

(Few years ago we went with 7-year-old from žp Košana to Vremščica, descended to sheep farm before Senožeče (road Divača-Senožeče) and from there hitchhike home. But now not traveling like that... just as example that 7-year-olds can manage such path (quite asphalt).)

Safe ascent with nice weather and wonderful views to sea and mountainsnasmeh,
M

Hi M
Thanks, tips are never too many. I have experience that often 7-year-olds manage more than 14-year-olds. We will go to Vremščica in March, but need to seek info much earlier. I already experienced Vremščica with wonderful views this winter and hope weather will be favorable in March too.
Best regards

Bravo! Very inviting and diligent children who still like to hike with parents to mountains.

In spring and summer to Vremščica best choose direction from Senožeče. Namely this direction in other seasons exposed to bora, snow, so ticks and other bugs don't "thrive"...
At least that's my observation.
Same for Kokoška. Go up from direction Gročane or agriturism and on top you count at least 15 ticks! mežikanje

I don't know. Anyway, we couldn't go anywhere. Next to him, another motorbiker (cross) stopped; they looked at something and he told him to ask the one who was waiting to help, who was with an off-roader, but it didn't interest him. Sorry I didn't snap a pic.

So to Vremščica, we said, if no other idea. New snow not more than 10 cm, no need to break trail much. After promising -13 C eek at start in Senožeče it warmed up quickly and on top occasionally really pleasantly warm. Clear, no wind, view to sea and Očak and all else no problem for us. Short, pleasant winter trip, without special crowd. Pics today borrowed, mine today without batteries wouldn't work.zadrega

Every story comes to an end oncejezik, and so my better half finished SPP yesterday.
We headed to the summit from the road above the village of Gornje Ležeče. The path is firm and dry all the way to the top. At the top we stamped the logbook, checked out the church of St. Urban and quickly headed back to the car. Then drive to the village of Skadanščina, stopping on the way in Pregarje village, where there's a point on the Couriers' and Signallers' Trail, from where we climbed to Slavnik for the last SPP stamp.

On Saturday from Volči to Vremščica. Despite the poor weather forecast there was no rain. Well, we got it later on Slavnik.

Poor Vremščica, you've never been in such a state, not even in times when soldiers of the former JLA were training on your slopes. And what, today off-road vehicles are in fashion, so-called SUVs, with which some "nature lovers" drive right to the top. Incomprehensible that the authorities allow this at all. What about PZS on this?
Best regards Pavel

Vremščica is, like Slavnik, a typical Primorska hill that's flat on top and thus suitable for many "recreants" with off-roaders.
Not only off-roaders, also with cross motorcycles.
Bikes don't bother me though.

But mostly bikes bother people, that's why there are bans for bikes in many places, but not for other vehicles.

Bikes of course don't bother me, as long as there aren't too many. At least they don't pollute as much as motor vehicles.

What the authorities say about this, one of our markacists can tell you firsthand. I think it was right on Vremščica (or maybe on Slavnik), when a tourist pushed up with an off-roader and they flipped a bit. He called the police, who first claimed they weren't competent, on his insistence that they were, they replied "currently no suitable equipment available" (of course they won't go up on foot).
Well, the tourist meanwhile called for help, his friends came with another off-roader and winch and rescued him. Both then circled to the top and back to the valley.

I also recently met such a "nature lover" when we were walking the southern part of the transverse with my girl. When descending from Tinjan towards Osp, someone flew past like crazy on a motorcycle, good we were a bit off the path.

I strongly doubt you can get up that "road" in the photo with an SUV.
For such a climb you need an off-road vehicle with low range and off-road tires.

Answer to all on the topic of cyclists to Vremščica.
At the top of Vremščica stands a repeater of the Ministry of Defense and Primorska electricity, which needs maintenance. Often need to transport maintenance equipment, spare parts and tools that are hard to stuff into a backpack. But some drive up for fun which is not nice and I don't approve. Otherwise I was up there a few days ago and spring grass is nicely growing over the track so it doesn't look like that anymore.
