It's praiseworthy that you prepared carefully. But your moralizing looks a bit comical when looking at the young guy's unprotected head under steep walls and him unsecured at the cable. Even adults sometimes slip with a "softened" foot from the rung, let alone a child.
No hard feelingscool

Sorry, maybe you were the one in opanke?! And don't get too upset, maybe you even agree that footwear is most important and of course time, not to rush and not push the child too much, to take time for rest and not plan too long a tour in one day. Of course I intend to equip him with everything else too, since he's very enthusiastic about high mountains and I'll take him more often in the future. So far we've visited e.g. Golica, Porezen, Velika Raduha, Okrešelj... Not moralizing, just writing what I see and posting some nice pic. Lp until next report from the field

Muhicka, can you give me some info if they have already installed a new stamp at V. Kanin or is it still missing???

Thanks Lp DAVID

No stamp, and I don't even know if there ever will be. Slowly everything will be pristine again.

Sadly I agree with SunBurned... First sweep in front of your own doorstep, only then in front of others. Sadly your son was equally, if not more exposed to danger than that young guy with opanke.
You know, you can't imagine what consequences a 1cm diameter stone falling from great height can have. The PD president explained/told me that happened to her hiker. That little stone just whistled when it hit the helmet, and there was a solid crack on the helmet... Helmet was only good for trash.

So use your brains in the mountains.

Kanin, Mangart saddle, Vršič and similar accessible destinations are often visited not only by properly equipped mountaineers but also by ordinary day-trippers who get led astray by nearby paths and suddenly find themselves on a real mountain path they're not equipped for with their footwear and without proper gear. Of course, it doesn't occur to them that the cable car could break down, an avalanche could block the road and they'd have to walk down to the valley - that's when they could really have serious trouble. So into the high mountains, even via cable car, always in proper footwear and with proper equipment.

Muhicka, I think you're getting too upset and hand on heart, in your case you should be self-critical, because the others gave you a very very well-meaning advice. I'm also sorry that your little boy doesn't have a helmet on his head and isn't secured. He can slip unintentionally, even if he has I don't know what kind of shoes eek. We're humans. I was the only one with a helmet when I went to Prestreljenik one day, and they looked at me like I was a little Martian. I sign under grajbosa, zlodeja, urbančeka and the sunburned one nasmeh

yeah, the little one really follows, nasmeh,
... but do you think he can extend his arm like in some cartoon in case of a slip.

Igor why do you say that, why is it then in the Slovenian extended traverse if there shouldn't be a stamp anymore.
It would really be a bit ridiculous if they just abolished the stamp. Please, if you can contribute anything, I'd ask you to speed up the matter of placing the stamp.
After all, if there's a stamp up there it doesn't harm anyone, but it's useful for collectors.

Best, David

I don't want any polemics about this, but still I'll say that I worked on mountain trails for 12 years, placing stamps and boxes, direction signs, and then someone threatens me with a lawsuit because with like-minded people I prevented him from stuffing Aljaž's tower into a museum, so I said to myself what's the point and I quit. No successor at the moment.

Even on the "main" transverse you have peaks with ground down, torn off stamps, not to mention the logbooks... And that's a shame for the nation to which the mountains should mean a lot or be a big part of its tradition, history...jezen

@muhichka
I reacted to your post because the contrast between what was written and the photos was really very amusing (seems I have a bit of a malicious sense of humorvelik nasmeh ). Your scolding of flip-flop wearers&co. then really comes off as moralizing. Anyway, you can accuse me of hypocrisy too, since I don't have a helmet either. zadrega

I agree that on easier paths the safe step in proper footwear is really the most important. Also obligatory some plasters for bruised elbows, because we end up on our butts before we realize what happened. For a clearer head in this mixed heat, an Isostar in water isn't too much, miraculous effect also from a white head covering, maybe a wet shirt around the head. Essential gear in the fight against unpredictability also raincoat, cap, gloves, headlamp. And time reserve as you already wrote. When packing the backpack, consider that you might need to overnight somewhere, even if you planned just for a day.

Regarding securing (from own experience). Fear of heights and associated wobbly limbs (if one is prone to it, for your son it's not yet known) comes incredibly fast, in a couple of seconds. Enough is some "harmless" 10m abyss underfoot. I foolishly got over it by accumulating experience or mileage. Far more useful would be using protection, as I'd progress much faster and not expose myself to danger. Glad you plan the second method for your son.

Lots of joy in the mountains and best regards.

Some obviously go up just for the stamps. For the transverse a photo should suffice, right?

As for the top photos, it's of course really irresponsible - no helmets and no self-belaying at least for the child. But true, even more barefoot are those heels and flip-flops (assuming of course they didn't have any other gear either).

The lady from Italy can of course come walk with her dog on our via ferratas since it's forbidden in her home country as well as in most alpine countries, here she risks only that someone kindly warns her.

Everyone is responsible for themselves and if they don't care about themselves, why should I, as long as they don't endanger others. But when the accident happens, then of course everyone else is to blame but not them.

Hribi.net is a portal where we express our opinions, thank God, we don't argue @Okmodko.
If some think that good footwear, enough water and sunscreen is enough for high mountains, they need to be warned that it's not true and I see nothing wrong with that. If the same ones also point fingers at others in sandals, even more so.

Igor, my opinion is exactly the same and all praise if you prevented such shenanigans around the tower.
For the stamp, you can advise me who I can turn to, to ask him a bit about it, if you're no longer active in this area.

Kanin has no value for Bovec folks and due to path neglect it will return to original state. Back then we kids managed and cut a stamp from a potato, so according to Igor you have no other choice - try itvelik nasmeh

Another hot day, but pleasant temperature was on High Kanin. For those collecting stamps, bad mood is probably justified, I didn't even check if the stamp is in the "box", but the power of lightning is well visible when the storm rages.eek

VanSims, I disagree that some go to the mountain only for the stamp, we need to think about kids too; the stamp is like a snack in the mountains (it's something special for him up there), very good motivation for the child (picture not so important). Maybe you have never seen a child with sparks in their eyes stamping into the Young Mountaineer booklet?
Igor, I agree, why do something if you can get the most from enjoying the mountain for yourself and not toil and put up signs... if at least someone else would bother, it would seem worth it.

Note. Also, in the past one could get a stamp in Bovec too - I think at the TIC, I don't know how it is now, hard to believe it's still possible.
