Mulatjera from the parking lot in Sella Nevea to Rif. Gilberti is very well marked and easy. I always started from the big parking lot before the cable car. At the end of the parking lot is a signpost - I don't know the exact path number now, but it is on Tabacco map no.19

I'm still interested what's with that stamp, did they put it up? As previously written, adults don't need it but kids would like it. And is it known if Peter Skalar hut will operate now with cable car?

How's the snow on Kanin now? I would repeat Mangrt's tour. Gilberti-Kanin-Prestreljenik-Gilberti. I wouldn't take winter gear and skis

Leave skis and snowshoes at home, take the rest.

If someone goes this week from D station to Kanin, I'd ask for conditions, as next week we'd go with kids. I photographed the initial snowfield yesterday, but I'm interested in the further path, if there are any snowfields to cross. Thanks in advance

Yesterday we visited Kanin. After exiting the upper cable car station we entered thick fog and couldn't find the path start at all. But the fogs cleared quickly and so we first went to Prestreljenik Window, then onwards to High Kanin. Above Kanin Pods the path goes first over extensive screes, later we enter more rocky terrain. At the summit we decided also for Little Kanin, which is fairly close and we go there via easy pathless terrain. Despite the cable car bringing us so high, the path is still quite demanding in some sections. Protections aren't everywhere and as we saw, many hikers took the mountain too easy and turned back at the rocky section entrance. No words about equipment ... Quite cold at these altitudes, so winter supplies from the backpack like jacket and hat were handy. Little snow, nothing special. Walked 1 week ago, up Julia ferrata and Grasselli back. Wonderful

On Wednesday I was on this path: Neveljski pass - Gilberti hut - Bela peč - Marrusich bivouac - Via ferrata Rosalba Grasselli - Krnica summit - High Kanin - Prestreljenik Window - via new ferrata to Saddle - Prestreljenik - descent to Preval, all the way back to Gilberti and down to the valley. First time in Kanin mountains, which didn't disappoint me

On Wednesday our hiking group DU Podutik was on High Kanin. Weather super, heat tolerable, path surprisingly poorly maintained, with old and poorly visible markers. Heh, did you expect anything else from Primorska?

@jax, what else do you want from Primorska?

Maybe that's exactly the problem. They bask in partisans and the fight for freedom, but to do something concrete for progress in the country is much harder. I'm a Primorean myself, no mistake. But anyone not blind can see how Gorenjci manage their places and how Primorci do. And that's visible in the mountains too.

Yeah, the group as I see had trouble following the poorly marked path Halllo I hope the markers in that area won't get renewed and then it won't be possible to reach Kanin at all

Paths around Bovec are by far the worst maintained and marked in Slovenia. The youngest PZS member here has already seen all Russian winters .... on the other hand, they have good pathless terrain!
