Well, do you already have the right brands of clothes and footwear so you can go?

And what are the conditions on the stol? Totally depends. If carpeted, then soft to sit; if not, then cold as hell in the ass.

Based on experiences noticeable from the question, as well as forecasted weather, I advise you to stay home.

How funny you are, asking for serious answer which I expected in group meant for this but see I expected too much.

Glad you laughed..

Conditions are top-notch on all these peaks. Winter gear mandatory, then go for it.

Krefi don't be offended now if you got such answers. I believe everyone advised you in good faith each their own way, because from your question it really gives the impression that you don't have much winter mountain experience, maybe I'm wrong. If you followed the scene regularly, you'd know as redbull wrote that conditions have been more or less excellent for over a month. I agree with what Barentoter wrote, but don't forget that besides winter gear you need to know how to use it and be skilled in winter terrain movement. Because for experienced conditions are really great, for less so very dangerous and tricky, reflected in the number of nasty incidents in the mountains in recent weeks.
Good luck.

I think there's quite some exaggeration about the current excellent conditions in the mountains. In reality it hasn't been this icy for a very long time. Sure it's great because no need to break trail and you can go many places where you usually can't in winter (when was the last time you could go through Za kopico without skis in winter?) but actually it's quite dangerous, as shown by the abundance of accidents (not only to inexperienced!). Stopping with ice axe on such hard terrain even with perfect technique is quite a lottery. I think progressing is much more relaxed if you can kick steps and not always just on crampons.
But I believe it's great for Triglav where the track is already laid.

Morning via Župančič to Little Mojstrovka then on to Great and a bit further along the ridge...
Crampons on already at the kiosk. Conditions in the morning pretty good, but hit some wind-packed patches, nothing too bad. Lower jump filled in, quite hard/icy in the morning and climbs nicely. In the central part (when sun hits) it softens quickly in the forenoon, between 9 and 10 it was still nice and hard. Exit again hard, we took the right variant (a bit less in the serac fall line than normal route). For those eyeing Pripravniška, careful. Big serac on top is quite cracked, who knows when it'll go. Ascent to Great Mojstrovka no issues, when descending later it was noticeably softer and steps were crumbling under weight. Ridge to Zadnja Mojstrovka as far as we went, no issues. Quite some traffic on normal route descent. Wonderful day.

Two days ago light snow fell. With that snow is back right to the road. Otherwise conditions on the normal route haven't changed much.

On Sunday 10.5.2020 we headed to Vršič a bit earlier because the forecast for 11 was rainy. The closer we got, the worse it was. At Vršič it was raining and so with umbrellas we eyed the Mojstrovkas... but we couldn't decide. OK, turn around, go somewhere else. We drove on, pondering where... come on, it'll be fine, so we turned around once more back to the top of Vršič where there was just a little drizzle. Nah, we didn't buy all these super duper expensive jackets for nothing, right? So we went.

Below Vratca we put on helmets and stepped onto the larger snowfield, on which quite a lot of rocks flying from the wall were visible. The snow was just right rotten to go nicely on the steps. From Vratca onwards strong wind started blowing, we went further into the fog between the Mojstrovkas - we headed towards Velika Mojstrovka. Every now and then it cleared a bit, then closed again. Higher up another snowfield and there we put on crampons and swapped poles for ice axes. It was softer, but still the last snow pleasures this year. A bit straight up, across under the wall to the left, then traverse to the right, around the rock where those two meters need to be seriously climbed, and we were on the top. Visibility: cca 10m nasmeh

We descended quickly and also visited Mala Mojstrovka, then to the valley where the sun greeted us. Well.... then we went for a well-deserved beer and there we sunbathed a bit at the end. It was.... nice nasmeh

If someone misses an ice axe, let them speak up, say what it is and if correct they can pick it up.

Hi,
does anyone have info by chance about the snow conditions on Hanz's path from Vršič to Little Mojstrovka?
I'm planning to go up on Saturday. I assume some snowfield to cross, but what about in the wall?

Thanks in advance for any useful info.

Cheers

If there's none at the start before the wall, then there's none anywhere. The entry is definitely snowy, probably quite a bit
