Nice. One comment. We too last year when doing loop over Potoška planina surprised at "dead end" end of forest road. Spent quite some time searching path around. Then back few hundred m and found marked but hidden turnoff from forest road down. Last year still many fallen trees on path from there.

Thanks jbs, checked map and my GPS track at home. I roughly guess where it drops to right path. Thanks again, last time would've gone back but no time.

Hi! Starting point currently hard to find due to road works, drove too far first. Water intake sign scratched lying by road, no signs. With attention notice red sign by road. Small parking just before spring. Path ahead mostly visible, middle part churned by logging (after ~10min walk). Follow "main path" leads soon to hiking trail continuation. Wonderful outing, recommend

Didn't know where, just drove somewhere....late afternoon from Valvazor hut to Vajnež, thought altitude would bring cooler but arrived summit almost soaked. Dried quick descending Vajnež to Potoški Stol. Back to Valvazor hut, road solid but bad section 10min before. Julian Alps in fog plus 3km jam to Jesenice, so went up.

Yesterday (Tuesday, 31.12.2019) from Urbas. The road is nicely drivable, the path through the forest is a bit improvised in one place due to fallen trees, otherwise not problematic. After about half an hour of walking snow starts, at Betonska bajta on Belščica over 10 cm, partly blown off, partly drifted. It seemed to me a strong wind was blowing on the ridge, so towards Vajnež I traversed quite lower, somehow along the edge of the scree. Hard sections (crampons) alternated with deeper drifts up to mid-calf. At the top it almost completely stopped blowing, views were wonderful. Noticed some people on Stol. Returned along the ridge through a cirque and on over Mali vrh, and at Kamnitnik descended straight down to Hrašenska planina, from there to planina Stamare and back to start. Serious snow starts above Betonska bajta. If repeating the ascent in these conditions, from the bajta would go straight up hard snow to the saddle east of Mali vrh and then along the ridge to Vajnež. Would save almost an hour of trailbreaking. There were tracks on the ridge anyway. Like the predecessors once or twice, it also gave way under me once over the knee when I stepped on the inner edge of the cornice just a few cm from the rocky ridge.

Today, on the penultimate September day to the mountains for winter idyll. Gorgeous warm sun and snowshoe prints in the snow. WONDERFUL

To Vajnež from Konjska peč. The hunting path is better trodden than my last visit. Start is still tricky, need to watch for the mark on the tree. Planina Seča was in the sun, also half the scree. The other half over Rida is frozen, had microspikes. Roads over Savske jame and towards Jav. Rovt both have good and bad parts. They're forest roads after all. Vajnež is the highest in our municipality, nice two-thousander. https://jelenkamenmajdag.blogspot.com/2020/11/vajnez-najvisji-v-jeseniski-obcini.html

Today (Wednesday, 29.11.) from Urbas. Weather forecast clear, but the black cloud over Belščica insisted otherwise. Just before Urbas there's a somewhat dubious warning sign due to terrain sliding. When I spotted the measuring devices for tracking ground movement, I prudently avoided the area a bit. Path to Betonska bajta rises splendidly and quickly, at end of forest snow gradually starts. A bit more (half shoe height) above bajta, from there to summit the same. Grass frozen, but boots gripped well. Path in fog not very traceable. Glad for well-chosen marking points on rocks just peeking from snow. Towards summit wind started (some SW), fog thickened more. I was cold. Behind the cross on top suddenly a view window opened for a few seconds, showing Ovčji vrh (Kozjek) fully. Naively waited another 15 min for repeat (or at least short encore ), then shivering and stiff headed back. Fog persisted, every 20m or so found my own footprint in frozen grass. Can't remember when snow prints made me so happy. Missed the signpost in the valley below Vajnež by 30m, spotted it when turning around by chance. Lower down easier. Past hut Ovčar Marko and Hrašenska planina down to Stamare then road to Urbas. All without issues. Just cloudiness in mountains, even in Julijci persisted despite great forecast. Next time. Had gaiters, came in handy for cold and when twice or thrice punched to knees in some drift. No crampons needed.

What's that behind the waterfall?

Zoran, true. I think it doesn't even have a name. But it's on Javornik stream or one of its tributaries. Not even the stream is marked on opentopo. From "Konjska peč" sign approx. azimuth 270 along descent line

Super. I'm also planning the path in opposite direction from Struška to Vajnež. On pics 13 and 14 are there fixed cables? What's that section like? Supposedly some plane wreck remains on the path, did you notice them? I wish you a nice hiking weekend

Yeah, there are a couple of fixed ropes there. Or, at least one. I don't know exactly how many, because I skipped most of that section due to annoying snow patches.

That path I just couldn't find last time, and where the ropes are I searched for quite a while. Probably hard-to-spot entry. Then I went on the marked one. As reward met a marmot that wasn't scared at all.

On one part (from Vajnež direction) shortly after the first rope, a shorter section is harder to follow, as a scree bush has grown right on the path.
