Upward twice good morning and one retreat into the forest, too much wildlife on the path, downward more chatty, also with one detour through the forest. No peculiarities on the path, we didn't spot chamois, or if they spotted us, can't say, weather was great and just enough wind. Of course we stepped on both east and west, although I think Tolsta is just one, that's how most printed guidebooks and maps have it, also web. Nice hike

Today early start Pod krnico, Spodnja, Zgornja Dolga njiva, east and west peak of Tolsta Košuta and descent the same way.
Weather mostly cloudy with cold, quite strong wind so I had gloves on most of the way. The path was quite damp and therefore the risk of slipping is greater on the mix of dirt, rocks and scree; especially on steep parts. Met around 20 hikers.

If anyone else missed it: Due to repair works on the Slap - Jelendol road, the road section from Čadovlje near Tržič to Dolina, from 4.8. until further notice, Mon-Fri 7:00-17:00 and Saturdays 8:00-15:00 completely closed. Car access possible to parking at Info point in Čadovlje.

Still working, closure 7-17h, open Sundays, detour via Lom but road in bad shape, so don't recommend

Summer weekend and nice weather forecast worth using. And since heavy traffic jams were forecast for Bled area and Jesenice exit, I turned towards Tržič and on to Jelendol instead. To that far corner where Tolsta Košuta is, I had never turned before, and I don't even know why. Anyway, it was time to fix that flaw.
Road to parking below Krnica is solid. Lots of cars up there, but luckily plenty of space. Short walk in shade to hut, there dozens of visitors and whole circus. I quickly stride past and on Upper Dolga Njiva turn straight up early. Still no big issue, no special steepness, very clear and easy to find passages through bushes. At summit too early, so continue on path to Obličev where I settle in. Check out Gamsovke a bit, but figure they're not for me.
On way back hop to Mala Košuta, then down to hut. There no regular beer or light radler, no goulash or any stew, but full blasting and max volume Modrijani. Interesting how many people in mountains but actually not interested in them. Anyway, mountain was great for me, hut much less, so quickly head home.

Loerst, yesterday was burgerfest on the pasture, that's why such kitsch  They had burgers of course, potatoes couldn't be missing either

They had beer, but only some newfangled boutique stuff, no lager. I mean, tastes differ and to each his own, but I'm a simple guy and all I need is a plain Union and a goulash, and the rating would be totally different.

What started years ago with Kofce and štruklji is now happening with Planšarija Dolge Njive. Attract as many modern "insta hikers" as possible.

"Clientele" in the mountains is changing and innkeepers are just adapting to it.
These changes of course bring a shift from mountain traditionalism, on which some are more sensitive than others - the bigger problem is that it also brings new "cheap" guests who are not necessarily hikers (or walkers or mountaineers) in the full sense of the word...

I agree! But somewhere there should be a limit anyway. In summer by helicopter to the alpine pasture for dinner under the stars...
