Sl 17; bases of Three Peaks visible, I think right after Forcella Passaporto pics 15&16 confirm. Ferrata delle forcelle starts at Forcella Camoscio east to hut Bulelle-Pian di cengia, opposite your start.

I gladly accepted my friends' invitation to join them on the way to the Dolomites. We set off from home on Saturday early in the morning. The goal of the first day was the area around Tre Cime di Lavaredo. We parked at the Auronzo hut. We headed towards the Forcella Lavaredo saddle. There we split into two groups. The first went along the circular path under the peaks hunting marmots, while we three wanted to see a summit. We continued to the Locatelli hut and onwards towards Torre di Toblin. After many ladders we were soon at the summit. We were there before 9 a.m. and among the first visitors that day. We enjoyed the sun and the beautiful views. We descended via the easier secured path back to the hut. The day was still very young, our desires not yet satisfied, so we headed back towards the Forcella Lavaredo saddle via the summit of Monte Paterno. We climbed it via Ferrata De Luca Innerkofler. The path through the tunnel is somewhat eerie. More or less we were constantly thinking about World War I and the people who suffered and froze in these mountains. There were already huge crowds at this summit. We descended back to the Forcella del Camoscio saddle from which we went down the gully. Caution is advised here because it is at the entrance to the ferrata leading to the summit. Quite substantial rocks were falling from the wall into the gully, loosened by visitors above. The gully is wide enough to move far enough away from the falling projectiles. In the lower part of the gully we joined the path that leads us via ledges to the Forcella Lavaredo saddle. From there we watched climbers in the walls of Tre Cime. Soon we joined the procession of all sorts of people from all corners of the world and marched to the parking lot. In the valley we wanted at least one decent pizza, but until 18:30 no one bakes them. We left Cortina and drove to Arabba, where we spent the night. Our motto is early hour, golden hour, so at 9:00, when the cable car starts operating, we were already at the top of Piz Boè. I congratulate everyone in the group on their altitude record. When the column from the upper cable car station began approaching, we decided to descend. Two fans of fast descents on scree went down to the valley on foot, the others wanted a cable car ride. We were home before sunset.

črow please can you explain at what time we should start from Zasavje to hike the trail around the three peaks in one day. How much does the toll cost and how is it with overnight stays in those places. Thanks for the answer and good luck further.

I wouldn't know how long from Zasavje. From Cerkno it was four hours (from border crossing Vrtojba, three hours). Toll one way about 10€. Road to Auronzo hut another 30€ for van. Road to Pordoj pass is free. At no parking lot, neither at Pordoj nor at Auronzo hut, did a cyclist catch us like on Vršič. Parking is free. We slept in Arabba because Cortina is noticeably more expensive. Apartment for six people was 60€ per person. Reservation necessary. At Auronzo hut noticed several cars where people slept calmly. Also some tents under the walls of Tre Cime. Slovenes hardly believe this unless they see it with their own eyes

One more thing - to the barriers on the mountain road to Auronzo hut (toll payment) it's good to arrive in the morning or early forenoon hours, because - in case of (too) many visitors or already parked cars - they close the road entrance several times and reopen it only when a certain number of cars return. Especially in August there can be quite a crowd due to Ferragosto even on weekdays, this year even more because Italians also got tourist vouchers.

On 25.7.2022 we set off on the trail around the smaller and attractive Tre Cime group. We parked below Auronzo hut, for which we paid 30€. We started the trail at Auronzo hut and continued towards Lavaredo and Locatelli huts, from where the characteristic view of the Three Peaks appears. We also climbed the easy peak above Locatelli hut Sasso di Sesto (2539m), for which detailed route description can be found on Hribi.net website. From Locatelli hut we returned to parking via another path past Long Olbe hut. For the whole loop we needed comfortable 5 hours, Altimeter measured 12km. The trail is suitable for almost all age groups and offers really nice views of mountains, meadows and valleys around. The path is wide, well marked, very crowded, equipped with info boards. Orientation is easy.
