Slovenian Waterfalls of Watercourses

Print

I'm starting a new thread titled Slovenian Waterfalls of Watercourses. I'll be visiting waterfalls on rivers and streams, known and unknown, named and unnamed, in all seasons.

They already suggested this title to me and I finally decided.

On this rainy Friday I drove to Kamniška Bistrica and photographed the first waterfall-Orglice. This early autumn time and of course in spring is the biggest. The water flow didn't disappoint me. The path is well marked. Because there's lots of water it took quite some skill so I didn't get water in my shoes or slip into the stream bed.
Slovenian Waterfalls of Watercourses Direction at entrance from asphalt is clear.1
Slovenian Waterfalls of Watercourses These signposts will lead us to the waterfall.2
Slovenian Waterfalls of Watercourses In front of waterfall but don't see it yet. Need to climb a bit, not pleasant now as slippery.3
Slovenian Waterfalls of Watercourses Pleasant pools, waterfall not yet visible.4
Slovenian Waterfalls of Watercourses Need to reach right bank over wet rocks and much water to finally see it in full glory.5
Slovenian Waterfalls of Watercourses In hot summer almost none.6
Slovenian Waterfalls of Watercourses Nearby on the right side there is an unmarked path to planina Korošica via Šraj peska and Naj štanta. I have tried three times already - never succeeded.7
Slovenian Waterfalls of Watercourses 8
Slovenian Waterfalls of Watercourses On the path I met all sorts - from the green brotherhood - there were even two - without prey.9
Slovenian Waterfalls of Watercourses To the planšar from Velika planina, which will appear upside down when transferring the picture.10
Slovenian Waterfalls of Watercourses There are mushrooms too - I really didn't see any boletus.11
Slovenian Waterfalls of Watercourses There are also plenty of salamanders.12

Today I made a trip to Luknja gorge and checked out the waterfalls of the tributary of Črni potok. This tributary flows into Črni potok just before Kamen castle. Right before the narrowed part of the gorge, where the passage is even secured with cables, the stream on the left at the end of the gorge has carved a passage between rocks and created a series of nice small and slightly larger waterfalls. I don't know the name of the stream itself, nor what these waterfalls are called. To see them well we have to enter the bed and climb a bit along it, and with their water flow they won't disappoint us.
Turn-off to the Luknja gorge.1
Here are all shots of this nice corner in the Draga gorge. Let the little pictures speak for themselves. From the path we descend into the bed here.2

This is the entire chain of waterfalls. Not well visible from the path, need to venture into the bed and climb a bit along it.6

Velkavrh; you've opened a very interesting and photo-supported topic that's unknown or poorly known to most of us. Super! Be careful, because at waterfalls there are factors like moisture, water spray, slippery rocks and unprepared paths or pathless terrain. With carelessness very serious injuries can occur. Good luck!

This year already on my mountain trips I've seen lots of waterfalls, but didn't pay them special attention except on the Croatian tour-Path of Seven Waterfalls, nor did I particularly photograph them.
This year I was twice on Visokih Turah - these waterfalls we saw on the hike to Sauleck.1
This one was right below the hut.2
On the hike to Vernar, heading to planina Konščica, under the path the stream makes cute little waterfalls.3
Twice this season on Visokih Turah - these were the nicest waterfalls on the three-thousanders Schareck and Baumbachspitze.4
5
Definitely worth seeing the waterfalls by the Bela stream - that was a trip to Kresišče.6
7
8
Along the gorge of that river is routed a daring via ferrata - adrenaline.9
At the end of Voje valley we can see Mostnica waterfall.10
Second time in three years to the Path of Seven Waterfalls in Croatia - beautiful they are.11
12
The Koroška Waterfalls are very close to us - near Kamnik.13

Today I visited the waterfalls at Jezersko. First of course I checked what's left of once Slovenia's largest waterfall-Čedca waterfall that is. Couldn't see it up close because access is forbidden due to active landslide. But surprised me that it has so little water. I've been here many times-including before the landslide. Further this time first time I saw Ankov waterfalls. Of course can't skip the waterfalls made by tributaries of the Reka stream. Two are huge. The first larger one tumbles over a steep bank and already in upper part makes waterfalls that are only partly visible and access to them almost impossible. Maybe could climb closer along its right bank-of course in dry-I don't know. The second is also magnificent. To these waterfalls we go by road that turns from the main at Kanonir inn at Lower Jezersko to the left. Nice gravel road leads to Jekarica-starting point for Bašelj saddle and further Storžič. Soon we hit road barrier. From barrier walk along the bed of Reka stream-tributary of Kokra river-and soon spot on right bank first waterfall-that one smaller. Second soon after it-that first larger. Second larger is about fifteen minutes after the first larger. Currently water pours from all banks from countless springs and falls over rocks and flows into the stream from gullies thus creating land of clear water.
We are already at the starting point.1
The torrent from the waterfall during heavy water has been tamed. The old protection collapsed.2
The water from the waterfall soon sinks into this sand.3
Čedca waterfall - cannot get closer, or rather what is left of it.4
Above the waterfall, then that mighty rocky terrain.5
Jezerska slatina - water supply right by the main road. Supposedly it's been here for some years. I had no idea.6
Chapel at Ankovem. I don't know exactly at which house it still says - Anko. To the left of the chapel is an abandoned house - something is being renovated. Behind it is a wonderful still preserved homestead - it doesn't seem to have permanent residents. 7
Past this right abandoned homestead - once a mighty estate, we come to the horse farm. I don't know what breed they are - but they are beautiful - of different colors.8
From Ankota a signpost directs us to Ankov's waterfalls and the source of Jezerska slatina. Higher up is a junction - the left path will take us to the source.9
The right one along the steep bank, twice we must jump across the entire stream, to the first Ankov waterfall. This is only the forefall.10
This is the first Ankov waterfall.11
This is the second Ankov waterfall.12
Currently they are really mighty.13
Then I drive to the Kanonir inn at Spodnjem Jezerskem and towards Jekaric. Tributaries of the Reka stream form beautiful waterfalls. They originate on Medvedjeku. These waterfalls are on the right side of the road. The first one is this.14
Water creeps over moss, over rocks - beautiful.15
This is the second, considerably larger waterfall. Higher up there is a series of smaller waterfalls that are almost not visible.16
They hide.17
This is already the third or rather the second larger waterfall.18
There are also two artificial waterfalls, created by man with barriers for the wild streamlet.19
The streamlet has carved passages through the rocky terrain and forms rapids, smaller basins and pleasant pools.20

Adding a waterfall which is right tributary of Jerečica in Koriti and a sinkhole which is right tributary of Sava Bohinjka near Soteska. Unfortunately don't know names of the watercourses...

Today I finally visited the Upper Martuljek Waterfall. If you want to see it up close you have to climb a bit on the fixed cables.
Junction for the direction to Zgornji slap.1
The path is quite demanding.2
Before Drugi slap.3
Via steel cables we descend to the little bridge.4

Yesterday we visited Skutnik (Monte Guarda-1721m). The peak is located north of the Učja river on the border with Italy. Učja is a river that flows into the Soča. Into Učja flows quite a lot of water from Globoški stream and forms a couple of large beautiful waterfalls. To see them we have to go from Žaga village along an unmarked mule track that leads further to Skutnik. To see the waterfalls from below and see the lower waterfall at all we have to turn left on the pasture by the path with two buildings - it's marked - into the canyon. The path ahead leads back to the mule track to the mountain. The upper waterfalls we'll see up close when we go along that mule track. They really are magnificent and worth seeing.
We hear the murmur of water and indeed spot the waterfalls.1
2
The last waterfall visible from the gorge flows over here.3
4
We even have to cross the water past this waterfall.5
6
Higher up a whole series of waterfalls can be seen falling into pools and overflowing from the pools over rocks further.7
This is the lower waterfall, visible only from the gorge. Other waterfalls are visible above in the picture.8
It is mighty - precisely the lower one is supposed to be the highest.9
10
This is that pasture where we turn left into the gorge.11

This time I visited the Stegovnik Waterfall for the first time. We get to it via Tržič and Dolžanova Gorge and Jelendol. In Jelendol we turn right towards the Spodnja Dolga Njiva alpine pasture. In Medvodje we park at the marked parking lot. Here a sign directs us to the right onto the forest road past a nicely arranged grassy soccer field with a covered picnic area with tables and benches. Further on, a somewhat worse road brings us to the waterfall, which we notice from afar. In winter this waterfall is a popular ice climbing spot.
Medvodje - abandoned legacy of Baron Born, which is sadly falling into ruin.1
The abandoned karavla fares no better. It also burned a year or so ago.2

Finally yesterday after a couple of decades I saw again our, I'll say almost the most beautiful waterfall-Rinko. Decades ago in elementary school they took us on a trip to Logarska Dolina to see the waterfall. At that time there was still no that nice hut at the starting point. In 20 minutes along the nicely arranged path we are at the waterfall. Suddenly you spot it. From that ledge it crawls, falls down the vertical rocks. It really is magnificent. To the right of it is a viewpoint. In short, it simply enchants you. Then we go along the beautifully arranged path - wooden stairs, little bridge, steel cables to Dom na Okrešlju.
Here is the starting point - a pleasant spot.1
Along a nicely arranged path to it.2
And here we are at it.3
On the right we spot the waterfall viewpoint, on the left the mighty Rinka waterfall.4

Wherever I go I look for some waterfall. This time I found one in Austria by the Hajnžev Stream.
This stream is quite watery and forms several cascades and rapids.1
Before the waterfall, one has to descend the path to the stream.2

Today I wandered around Bohinj. I visited the waterfalls of the Ribnica stream, which springs below the Konjščica highland and somehow breaks through the rocky world into Srednja vas in Bohinj. We reach them along a path that at the end of the village turns into the Ribnica stream gorge. Soon at the beginning of the path on the right side we also view the waterfalls of the right tributary of Ribnica - Ptonca. The lower waterfall is 7 meters high. The second one - 10 meters - is nicer. Then we go along the path high above the gorge to the home of the green goblins - these are the Studenci springs, where Srednja vas has a water intake. Then we reach the first waterfall - 10-meter Nezemljan. A bit further is the second waterfall - 15-meter Marlon B. It has a very original name.

But for today there wasn't enough water for me yet. I drove to Žvan village and via Repar pass went also to the little river Bistric. The descent to the source of Bistric is a bit awkward. Today it was very muddy. Suddenly we hear a strong roar of water and spot the source of Bistric. Because of the power plant lower down they built a dam and now water falls over it - really magnificent. On the left we see also the waterfall of Mala Bistric. You don't see that much water easily. But apparently both waterfalls are even more magnificent during heavier rain.
Signpost in Srednja vas in Bohinj.1
Here at the bottom, one turns into the gorge of the Ptonca stream.2
We spot it very soon.3
The first one flows down smooth rocks.4
This, however, is the larger waterfall.5
Higher up there are still a few smaller waterfalls, but it is difficult to climb further.6
This is how they tamed the wild Ribnica.7
Here we are still high above the gorge, which suddenly disappears and we are already in the green land.8
We already glimpse Nezemnjana through the branches.9
We reach it via the dwelling of green imps. The water roars under our feet - chilling and strangely unusual at the same time.10

Today I finally checked out Tominčev slap in Podljublje. Head towards the camp and before the camp turn right onto the currently very muddy road. Currently the gravel road is in very poor condition due to timber hauling. I left the vehicle at the abandoned house on the right side of the road, where there's currently a huge amount of logs. From there it's only about ten minutes on foot and we're at the intersection, where the road goes ahead left, but we turn onto the less visible path to the right and after a few meters we already spot the waterfall. The fence that was once there is no more. The bed of Beli potok is this 18 meter high waterfall falling into the pool below in two strands. In high waters it can be really powerful.
I also took a quick look at the camp, which is already closed.1
Soon we spot it through the foliage.2
