Greetings from today's sunny Istria. I accidentally stumbled onto the portal via a link from Wikipedia. Interesting and pleasant site, but sadly I can't find a record about Slavnik, a peak very popular among hikers from Istria and Brkini. I think it deserves its place among the mountains, maybe add the Coastal-Karst region to the Goriško, Notranjsko, Snežniško hribovje group (say Hills of Primorska and Notranjska). Besides Slavnik it certainly includes Kokoška (near Sežana), which is also a popular excursion spot. Igor

The mentioned peak is among those that will fall into the Goriško, Notranjsko, Snežniško hribovje category. Since it is lower than the alpine world, we plan to hike it in winter, most likely in January or at the end of the year. As soon as we hike the route, the trip will be posted on the website.

Kokoš is more at Lipica than Sežana. But in this part of Slovenia there are really still quite a few Kucljev that could be entered, as in winter they are maybe really easier to reach than other hills. But almost all hills in this part of Slovenia are totally occupied by neighboring Italians and hand on heart they behave in our hills much worse than PIGS WITH FUR. They are loud, scream, let their dogs everywhere, not to mention all the trash they leave. When it comes to cleaning up, it's not only pasta makers but also French. I wouldn't throw all into the same basket, but most.

Yesterday I headed from Podgorje village to Slavnik and along the way visited two neighboring hills (Kojnik and Jampršnik). It was a nice sunny day, initially a bit windy but the wind almost died down over the day. View from the nearby Adriatic Sea to Marmolada, Carnic and Julian Alps to Grintovec. In short, everything on the panoramic board at Slavnik summit was visible except Snežnik which was in clouds (it was visible in the afternoon too).

Yesterday we were on Slavnik. Nice path, only the wind was strong. From the top it almost blew us away.

PD Slavnik organized the 13th night hike to Slavnik on Saturday 14.6.08. At 22:00 about 40 hikers under the guidance of leaders Vojko and Aleš set off from Hrpelje (in the village) towards Slavnik in "acid" rainy weather. After an hour of walking there was a short break at the hunting hut, where hikers were greeted with hot drinks (tea, coffee, fire water,...) and snacks in the form of biscuits and fruit. The path continued (interestingly) mostly downhill (yes night has its power) under the summit of Slavnik then briefly steeply uphill. Tumova hut was open as well as the kitchen from where they served jota, njoki, sausages... organizer with awards (badges, plaques,...) to some repeat hikers. Unfortunately no accordion this time as the accordionist hasn't bought a waterproof accordion yet. So the group "already" at 02:00 headed back down the same path to the valley (again mostly downhill???). Of course another break at the hunting hut with hot drinks and return to start at 03.30. Very nice trip, different from usual, interesting. If only the moon wasn't offended and hidden behind clouds. Next year maybe it will show the way hopefully to even more "night owls". Full praise to the organizer for the excellently organized "different-positive" trip.

Yesterday I was on Slavnik, cloudy weather, on top a strong sirocco was blowing. Hut closed, open only on weekends, Sat and Sun. On the path I met unexpectedly lots of wildlife (roe deer).

Hello, does anyone know how and why those circles on the meadow below Slavnik summit appeared? Circles are on the meadow when you come from Podgorje via the steep path. Right as you exit the forest to the left on the grassy slope. best, furioso

Furioso!, maybe the institute for studying NLP knows more. Some time ago there was a report published about a sighted flying saucer in the Vipava area.

I don't believe in NLP, but I believe there's some real explanation for those three circles. I'll photograph them on Saturday and post the pics,..

Probably due to swirling wind

These are circles with a diameter of about 60m, the thickness of the circumference is I don't know half a meter, there the grass is green otherwise it's dry. They are perfectly true circles as if drawn with a compass,..

This afternoon I set off from Podgorje to Slavnik. About a third of the way snow starts. At the top about 10 cm, it was -4 degrees and medium strong bora blowing. Attaching a few more pictures.

Too bad the aliens didn't make circles in the snow version too!

No need to be too smart about these aliens and stretch the story endlessly

Obviously some don't understand humor!? I wanted to praise the pictures too (I'm a woman, not a man) but won't, or I'd seem too smart! LP
