What do you think, will these snowfields melt by the end of August?

Surely they will melt. L.P.

@velkavrh Left (unmarked) "path" that actually goes directly below saddle into valley has always been poorly traceable (with remaining snow even more) and rarely someone "decorates" it with rare cairns. If no tracks of predecessors, you have to search step by step - not demanding. That you're on right "path" surely know if advancing don't need to use hands!

Conditions over Hribarice 26.07.2014 are nicely visible on the following link: Kanjavec

I watched the link - Kanjavec. Extremely adrenaline-pumping - how right they were two weeks ago at Prehodavci that icy winter conditions prevail up to Dolič - only for exceptionally winter-prepared.

well, yeah, no.... Helmet on HEAD, ice axe in hands, crampons on boots, less rock slipping, and it would look much less adrenaline-pumping...cool

otherwise yeah, nice presentation of conditions.

And these are the "guys from the hut", the markers PD Radeče, who this weekend did their work on the route Trenta, Prehodavci, 7 lakes, Hribarice..... Without them our mountain paths would be much more complicated and dangerous... thanks guys! nasmehnasmehnasmeh

Yes, praise to all the "guys from the hut" who so nicely ensure that the markers are where we need them most. Thanks to them even we with a bit poorer orientation find many nice spots in the mountains. My big thanks too.

I'm interested whether on the path between the Double Lake Hut and the Zasavska Hut at Prehodavci and from the Zasavska Hut along the Za Kopica Valley to Planina Blato there is still any snow patch that can be dangerous without winter gear?

And one more thing. Somewhere I saw that the path along the Za Kopica Valley in this direction (i.e. from Prehodavci downwards) is not well marked. Is that true or what should we pay special attention to so we don't get lost?

From Prehodavci over Mala Vratca and Za Kopica to Dedeno Polje I hiked in autumn. The path is sufficiently trodden and marked that you can't miss it.
Regarding snow patches I don't know.

Enka, you can't miss the path at all because it's embedded in the surroundings and very well visible and you can't go wrong, because otherwise you don't climb to Vratca but to one of the mountain ridges (Zelnarice, Vršaki, Zadnji, middle Vogel....) 14 days ago there was still one snow patch right before you reach the Hribarice - Prehodavci junction, but you can cross it with poles and a bit of care because the footprints are already very well embedded, there are otherwise some smaller snow patches, but without issues. First photo snow patch, second one view from Velika Zelnarica (hey visit it too you won't regret it)

smatjaz, many thanks for all the info and photos. So obligatory gear are polesnasmeh! Zelnarica is one of my wishes for a long time, maybe we'll really manage to climb it too. If the weather allows views from it of course...

Hm, well I don't know where you start, but then I recommend the saddle Štapce and turn towards Tičarica (no need to climb it, since the path goes below it - but very nice view of the double lake) and further along the ridge past Kopica or even to it from the north side (that ridge is full of flowers, even edelweiss (visible in the photo) and so on to Zelnarice. The ridge and peaks except Tičarice which you can easily bypass are not demanding and well marked. The descent brings you right to saddle Vrata and then on to Prehodavci or in the opposite direction

We planned to start at Planina Blato and over Štapce to Double Lake and further to Prehodavci. I myself hiked this path only to Ledvička, further I haven't been (others neither). But I looked at the path you describe on the map. What do you suggest, to return from Vrata rather here along the ridge or below it, instead of the valley Za Kopico? What's nicer? And how about snow on this path, do you know maybe? Then we could go to Double Lake over Prode and on return peek at it from Štapce, right?

Enka, if visiting the hut at 7 lakes, double lake and Ledvička is not priority, you'll have much nicer views from the ridge than from the path itself if you catch it, which anyway joins at the green lake. If I were choosing I'd go over Štapce to lakes and Prehodavci, on return to Vrata and right to Zelnarica ridge and along it back to Štapce, you can include in descent from ridge also Prode and Ovčarija, then pl. Viševnik or Dedno polje (here I'd have hard time deciding - both are fairytale) and then to pl. lake and pl. Blato. But that already smells like 2-day tour nasmeh Oh on the ridge 14 days ago no snow, behind Kopica smaller flat snow patches, completely not dangerous, except that short snow patch from photo before Hribarice which also isn't seriously dangerous and can be crossed normally without winter gear. nasmeh

The hike will be one-day, Koča pri Dvojnem jezeru and Ledvička are musts, since the guests from USA want to see the Triglav Lakes Valley. We'll probably go via Štapce after all and not via Prode, because I like it better. Then we'll see how the views look and how fast we are - the path right from Vrata along Zelnarica ridge looks somewhat longer to me (about 20% - am I wrong?) than the one through Za Kopico valley, which goes directly to Dedno polje. I can't avoid that snowfield from the picture in any variant, if I understand right?

As for pastures Dedno polje and Viševnik I agree with you that it couldn't be better. If possible, we'll visit bothnasmeh.

Has anyone recently crossed Veliko Špičje on the path from Prehodavci to the Hut at Triglav Lakes? Is the path well marked?

Thanks.
