Very nice tour in decent weather, Gominško shelter no longer supplied, only "winter room" anymore.

Tomaž, your photos are always exceptional, even without snow! I always look at them with pleasure. Already looking forward to them!

Lijaneja, the detail in the photo that's a hole was probably an artillery position or for a machine gun during the Soča front.

Hi, I have a question. Tomorrow we're heading to Krn and might go to Batognica too. Interested if the path from Krn to Batognica is marked, how long it is (walking hours) approx and how difficult (compared to Krn). Starting from Planina Kuhinja. On Hribi.net there's a path described via Planina Sleme, 4.30 h, while elsewhere on the net it's mentioned as only 30-45 min. We'd want the shortest variant, since we might start a bit late. Could you give some advice? Many thanks!

Why not go in the opposite direction? Pl.Leskovca-Lužnica-Batognica-Škrbina-Krn.

Start early and it'll be fine (latest 7:30 from Kuhinja). Otherwise you'll soon see what it means to hike the south plateau of Krn in sun and heat .

As miri wrote, this variant is nice, a bit longer. I think about 5 hours depending on how fast you hike. It's fully marked, nothing difficult, just let it be a nice day. In fog it's not very pleasant to hike, nowhere is it. And make it a loop.

Mhm, we were thinking of starting around or after 12. Too bad. But do you think it's really impossible because of the sun? That's why we don't want some long variant. Last year in summer I was there, summit in total "fog", below hot but bearable.

Or is there a shadier variant?

No choice for this time of year and stated time.

At 12 usually one goes to lunch.

Lijaneja, exactly so; otherwise Italians already after lunch start greeting with buona serra, which means good evening . Krn has a cap in the afternoon more often, as we say (cloud around the summit).

Mjah, we're not Italians they greet Buona sera, not serra, because that's a greenhouse Then I'll follow your advice and we'll sleep one night at Nadiža's and head to Krn on Friday morning. That way we'll have enough time. I hope we also have the strength

At 12 it'll be hot as hell if the day is sunny. Don't! Otherwise from Krn to Batognica it's really cca. 45 minutes. The path from the notch to Batognica summit is slightly harder than to Krn, but completely nothing special, especially since now on those few maybe a bit tricky spots there are cables and it's really completely unproblematic.

Thanks. If we skip the lake, and go only from Krn to Batognica, does it then (time-wise) pay to go back the same path?
