Planina Korošica

Today with DU Predoslje-Britof on a hike to Planina Korošica. We went up and down the hunter's path. Today it was pleasant going up the hunter's path because there's pleasant shade all the way. We started right from the large parking lot on the right side of the tunnel and walked along the road to the starting point. There we saw that parking is possible, because they removed the nice parking lot with table and bench at the main road bend a few years ago. On the pasture we were announced, so they curdled plenty of milk. We really enjoyed escaping the valley heat for at least an hour.

At the viewpoint. Unfortunately, the spruces will soon spoil the view of the Begunjščica ridge.

On the first pasture - it should be called Konjska planina.

Now the path runs below the Grunta ridge.

A little further it already looks different.

Friendly shepherd's hut on the alpine pasture.

We won't go hungry either. There are taps with excellent water at the shepherd's hut. They also have nice sanitary facilities.

Start of the Košuta ridge. On the right are Zajmenove peči, on the left Veliki vrh in summer haze.

The home mountain of the pasture is Košutica or Ljubeljska Baba (Karntnerin) - 1968 m.

On that central tooth there are also fixed ropes.

Košutice can be approached from the right via Hanževo sedlo or from the left. Before the pasture, a marked path turns uphill on our left as we pass the pasture.

On the other side of Hanževo sedlo there is a secured path to Veliki vrh.

The hunting trail is really suitable for these hot days.

Today I went from Ljubelj to Koča na Ljubelju and further on a fairly slippery path and over Lojtrca to Planina Korošica. Descended via the border or hunter's path, lower on the muddy cart track which was just muddy enough for fast descent.
No more snow on the path.

Hello: I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if the two junctions are still current. Last year, when descending from Planina Korošica, I couldn't find that right junction to descend over Kačjek closer to Ljubelj. Thanks for all answers. nasmeh

That part of the path hasn't been maintained for a long time. In addition, there's rockfall danger in the middle section.

Today another mini return midday tour from Vrančka. Road was partially icy from moisture below, higher up sprinkled with some cm of snow, which required some caution on descent. Thicker snow cover starts at approx 1650 m, some 50 height meters below Hajnževo sedlo. Weather sunny, with occasional wind from different directions bringing clouds too. On planina very lightly snowing.

Neighboring mountains (Stol, Vrtača, partly Begunjščica) nicely covered above 1700 m.

On forest road tracks of car that made it almost to hut on planina and obviously back without trouble. Would like, or hope, GRS has some similar machine too.

Somewhat icy and slightly snowy road higher up.

Planina Korošica almost snow-free, the white dots are individual snowflakes.

For a moment, the sun shone on Hajnževo sedlo.

We still have plenty and if the situation doesn't worsen we can all go to nature nasmeh

in a week or two. Otherwise we'll wait for nicer days.
This spring nature gets lots of benefits in many places in the world...
Let's hope that the current inhabitants of our planet and our descendants can walk normally on a safe and healthy planet.
