14 days ago I first tried Olševa, from Sleme along the ridges to the last Obel Stone, descended to Sv. Duh, then once more the same path back. This weekend with a buddy in more running rhythm on the same path, great training, not much ascent, but direct path from Govca over Kuclje to Obel Stone quite exposed, so I will avoid it 100% in future! Wonderful and easy mountain offering beautiful views.

@MTB Explain your description more precisely. Solidly exposed and then undemanding mountain???

Yes from Obel Stone to Olševa or. Govca the path is a bit exposed in a couple places, needs a bit more caution of course, otherwise the path itself is not difficult at all. That part is maybe 5min. Regards

I expressed myself a bit strangely, from Govca to Obel Stone there are two variants, you can descend towards Zijalka stream and then up, which is easier, or go direct over Kuclje, where the first signpost is placed, that's the variant I really wouldn't recommend to everyone. Especially in winter and wetter conditions!

Correct me if I'm wrong I think Obel kamen is the peak located between that viewpoint where there is a miniature Aljaž tower and cross and Govca. That's the peak where there is only a border stone and it's 1911 m high. That border stone has mark XXII/1. One more thing. From Govca to Obel kamen there are two more variants as far as I know, maybe some more exist, because there are quite some paths on Olševa.

The Obel kamen summit has a cross on top, miniature Aljaž tower is a bit aside.

Exactly so @drdivx, highest point of Obel kamen is where the border stone between Slovenia and Austria with mark XXII/1 is.... cross and replica of Aljaž tower are a bit further where there is more space and border stone no. XXII/4 where also a path leads left down that brings you to Potočka zijavka. Straight ahead path goes down to Vratom-Felsentore.

A few more photos from yesterday's ramble on Olševa (Rogar - Potočka zijavka - Govca - Obel kamen (along the ridge) - Rogar).

Today on Olševa. Past Rogar to Obel vrh, along the ridge to Govco and descent to Ošovnik, then return by road. Not much snow, where it is it's not problematic. It blew hard on the summit, looks like weather change coming. Regards

How did the return from Ošovnik by road seem to you?

Janez, that would have been a surprise.

garmont - did you go from Govca eastwards and then right towards panoramic road. if so, how much time or km to S.Duh?

That's it. From Govca approx 30 min along ridge towards Sleme, then right (marked junction) steeply down to Zg. Ošovnik farm. Then from Ošovnik along panoramic road approx 4 km, or less than an hour's walk. @domch... the return by road is a necessary evil.

Distance is 4.8 km, I measured because one book said 2 km, and I cursed when pounding back there with gojzarji, up and down macadam, it drags; but still better than going down to Sleme, from there 10 km road back.

Today Zvoneto and I from the lower Sleme headed to Olševa, nothing special on the path. We descended to Mrzli dol and continued to Kumra.
