Isn't walking in the genes?

Nordic walking has its own technique (movements) refined at sports faculties. There are also diploma theses on Nordic walking. One of them I also used on this website (click).

If a person masters the Nordic walking technique or learns the following steps to execute them technically correctly:
- two-beat diagonal step;
- double step with simultaneous push-off;
- triple step with simultaneous push-off;
- quadruple step with simultaneous push-off;
- quintuple step with simultaneous push-off, then starts enjoying this way of moving and glides through nature on all kinds of terrain gracefully, perfectly, rhythmically, dancingly ...

A person knows how to walk, but has to learn with poles, unfortunately doesn't have it in their genes. But movement experts have found out how Nordic walking should proceed as optimally as possible.

People can take poles and walk their own way, but the movement will never be like what you see here. They won't be able to enjoy that movement either.

The point is using different Nordic walking steps depending on terrain. Test your knowledge in the quiz (click).

Until there's a doctorate, I don't accept!

The pole isn't part of the body.
Selling fog (and poles).

..."then starts enjoying this way of moving and pushes through nature on all kinds of terrain gracefully, refined, rhythmically, dancingly ..."

Well, I move quite similarly to what is supposed to be Nordic walking, whether in the city or mountains, also by the sea and elsewhere, but my step is more alpine-Mediterranean than Nordic.

..."People can take poles and walk their own way..., In this movement they will never be able to enjoy it either."

Since I've been using poles in the mountains for decades, I definitely enjoy this movement. True though, since I learned to walk, I walk my own way, I haven't even considered walking your way or hers or his.

The Iskriva footpath got its name from Iskriva maps. Iskriva maps are intended for orienteering. Read more about orienteering with Iskriva maps here.

Some Nordic walking enthusiast explains: "I use the following Nordic walking steps: two-beat diagonal step, two-step with simultaneous push-off, etc.". The interlocutor adds: "You forgot 'rikverc'!"

Otherwise I let everyone do as they wish and think is right. Still, I'm wondering if poles would also be useful for pushing off while running or swimming?

Cross-country skiers have used running with poles uphill since time immemorial as part of cross-country skiing training when they weren't yet training on snow. Due to the specific foot technique, it's called running with emphasized push-off. I myself practiced it when I trained cross-country skiing in the 80s.

In the context of Nordic walking technique, running looks as you see in the picture below and the video clip.

Running with poles

It's true that in swimming they use various aids like flippers. It seems to me they also put some aids on hands for larger palm area. Poles for Nordic walking would be completely useless in water.

It's different on a SUP board, where a parallel could be drawn with Nordic walking, where a paddle is used. Many years ago I paddled with a paddle on a windsurf board when there was no wind.

Another clip of running with poles on Youtube:
