Went today with 7-year-old daughter up, steep ascent and gentle descent from Razdrto. Weather ok, wind not strong, huge crowds and both parking lots full. Great hike for elementary school mountaineers. nasmeh

Today made a track from Veliki Ubeljski to the top. On the plateau from this side conditions are impossible due to very strong bora. Serious snow starts at ca. 1000 m, bora makes drifts so everything will still change.

Nanos range 7.12. Not nice day forecasted. But we went anyway from Razdrto via steep path. Down past St. Hieronymus church via longer path to start. No sun. Fog so thick we couldn't see the antenna nor the church. Probably wouldn't have seen the bear if it came by chance. At Vojak hut lots of snow. The wind buffeted us well today. Maybe it will be useful, who knows? At moments when walking to the top I wasn't sure if right. But we went. December can be like this. Otherwise nice tour, though a bit different. nasmeh
At the beginning the path is quite muddy.1

"To the mountains you need to go every now and then also in really bad weather, so that it's even nicer later in really nice weather!"

So fog, wind, damp, cold ... have their charm and can provide a nice memory nasmeh

Last year on Nanos I was in fog. Today without a single cloud. Not even the wind blew. I went up the steep path behind the wind turbine, as they call it. Down the same path too, because the flatter one was icy in places.
From below from the road it looked steep.1
Here I go. Near the windmill there is a path. Otherwise quite steep.2

but not in such nice weather for a long time.4
The path was muddy in places.5
Higher it merges with the steep path that most hikers use.6

Sunday 11. 2. Beautiful day in the afternoon on the way to Nanos. I went by the way. After twelve o'clock. Then you didn't need winter gear anymore, because the snow was softened. In the morning they needed crampons. At least that's what the hikers told me who were descending. I did a loop. Up the steep. And down the gentle past the little church which was snow-free. The bora did its job.

From May to September open every day, now in winter only Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

As far as I know, the hut on Nanos is open in winter on Friday afternoons and over the weekend. From the end of April onwards every day except Thursday. On the PD Postojna website it says: In case of bad weather or impassable road the hut is closed.

Follow the PZS website "Mountain Huts". There it says that the caretaker is Liljana Valenčič, phone (051) 373 900. First-hand info!
