what surprised me is seeing so many of our visitors -especially on this peak- because usually here most hikers are Slovenes and Austrians because ours are lazy velik nasmeh

As far as I know, from June 3rd there is no more quarantine for EU citizens crossing the Italian border. I don't know the rest. Do you need some proof of being uninfected or do they measure temperature... and especially whether you have to enter at exact control points. No problem driving through Rateče because the crossing is open, just is it allowed?

For Austria it's clear: from today (for Slovenia) the border regime is the same as pre-corona.

No problem going there, the problem will arise when you come back from Italy to our border. For Italians it's great that as much health as possible comes to them mežikanje

, ITA-SLO border crossings closed, no agreement yet between Italy and Slovenia, probably from June 15 onwards, FVG governor asked national policy to agree at least to open borders between FVG-Koroška and Slovenia for the start, on Saturday they'll have a meeting for a deal in LJ, these are fresh news from our regional daily. mežikanje

King's Spire... For a long time in my thoughts on this mountain. Nice on the top, but the path gets steeper and steeper. No beautiful views but there was a feeling
of royal satisfaction, even without a crown. nasmeh

Monte Re/King's Spire is a mountain that rightfully deserves that name, I would add to it King's steep spire. MR is its own mountain, isolated from others, doesn't allow meddling in its figure. Stands proudly as one single lump and literally enjoys views from all others even much larger than it. Only link with others is saddle Sella delle Cave; all else are steep slopes that almost vertically fall into valley Mrzle vode and Cave del Predil. Already when we start ascent and head to forest past abandoned mining building we bite into steepness which almost doesn't let up to very top. Conditions on path very mixed, snow starts at 1450 m very demanding because already thaw and holes dangerously lurk at every step. Hard to say if steeper when going up or descending. Today summit was lonely; we had it whole time just for our needs.

I planned to go elsewhere, but the weather directed me here. The area around here is so familiar that on the top I easily "drew" the views I was deprived of. Otherwise nice tour, really nice trip. Road to the top, gravel, so-so, quite damaged, I wouldn't drive up with a normal car, with 4x4 yes. From end of asphalt to end of road markings and signs, further to top markings and some direction stakes, exemplarily marked, path itself without features. Some snow patches under summit today probably gone. On occasion I'll return for views, so memory of hill as it should be nasmeh
