On Saturday, June 6, I wandered above Matkov kot. The weather was fantastic, maybe just a bit hot, but nothing for it—better than some cold wind. Really nice spots, little visited, and a very demanding path that didn't trouble me. "Capricious" was Matkova kopa, which tested my inventiveness, but I gave up. Turned back at approx. 1821 m height. Gotta try to reach the summit another time. Otherwise, it was super anyway.

In the picture with this comment, you should exit the gully to the right, through junipers to a smaller steep gully, top out to the right and between trees and junipers up to the scree. From there onwards to the summit part slightly right over a short step and up the gully then right to the ridge towards the summit.
If you already went up that gully higher, at the turnaround spot you should go a bit further to the left branch of the gully, which is easier, and above it immediate traverse right to the top of that scree.
Anyway, it's always nice if you can go again!

I think I too came in the gully over one step then higher to wet gully, smooth rock, nowhere to grip but bushes. A bit of descent on the left side under rock spur through narrow/overgrown gully to its top. A bit on my own those few meters over bushes and ahead saw limited scree.....

Yesterday my friend and I headed from Lesnikovo sedlo to Matkova kopa. In very good time (under three hours) we were already on the summit. Internet descriptions are pretty good. We got lost only once and totally our fault, as we didn't follow the descriptions well (lost half an hour there). We followed a description (similar to the one on hribi.net). Adding comment on the last gully (towards the pointed rock). When you reach the bushes, there are several continuation options. Anywhere on the right side of the pointed rock, continue straight up through the bushes, and you'll arrive right under the next rocks, then right and straight to the summit. Recommend only to experienced hillwalkers! Lp Mateja

For a long time it tormented me one cave and gully next to it on the Austrian side of Matkova kopa. Yesterday seemed perfect for it. Milan picked me up a little before 5, and a few after 6 we were already huffing up the middle path from Lesnikovo sedlo to Matkova kopa. Before that, we were pleasantly surprised because the road from Matka to Lesnikovo sedlo is newly gravelled and rolled as if they will asphalt it. Also the trail part to Matkov zob is newly cleared. Since I promised Milan Matkov zob long ago, yesterday for warm-up first Zob. Already pulling the rope on its first spire. Soon Milan climbs to me and straight to the second spire. We sat for a while enjoying the achievement. On the second spire we prepared abseil on the west side of Zob. 60m double rope was just enough. Under Zob I show Milan interesting windows. Next goal the mentioned cave, well seen from Zob. With some hitches and each on his own variant we managed to climb to it. Cave registered called Kopa. Followed ascent up the steep gully left of the cave, which higher joins the variant gully left of Zob. Difficulty in the gully my estimate III. Difficulty can be reduced to the right, where there is some scree and a couple of larches, but no nice climbing like in the gully. Last meters along the ridge to summit of Matkova kopa showed how hot it is, north side at times almost cold. At the summit we could not believe what wilderness we climbed to the top. Satisfaction of both more than obvious. Since up the Austrian side, we also descend Austrian side, but in Milan's opinion a bit easier. From summit along the ridge direction Matkova krnica then from ridge right down to hunting path past interesting double window. Under Zob we viewed another cave and while searching for it quite adrenaline roped. From Matkovo sedlo down to car on lower path and thus ended our adventures.

Yes, Lintver luckily stayed in his cave and watched us threateningly as we rode by.

Really very nice, interesting and correctly described and presented, … some local conditions writers really take time for such contribution (since inserting images and texts is quite time-consuming!). And most readers and trip seekers like it if authors and conditions describers can properly caption attached images and add some objective comment.

The summit of Matkova Kopa really conjures special pleasures. Over the jump on picture 19, next time I'd rather go up than down. Last year I went down, and without aids it wouldn't have been possible.
