Yesterday was quite a suitable day for this ridge, as the weather forecast wasn't the most promising. You have to be quite focused at some spots, as any stumbling along the path wouldn't really pay off. I expected a bit more edelweiss on the way, but finding a nice little shoe on the return really brightened the day.

Today I had Mangart planned, but due to bad weather I changed my mind and postponed it to tomorrow, although as it turned out I could have gone today. Well it was nice here too along the Ljubeljščica ridge. Start from parking lot and road to Ljubelj Hut, then past hut into forest and to Polna peč, then drop to Ljubeljščica ridge. Beautiful views all around, the trail itself on ridge a bit more demanding at three spots so wouldn't recommend going up there with small kids. Then from Ljubeljščica summit descent to Zelenica hut for refreshment, short break then quick descent to Ljubelj and loop done.

Joža x, we two did the trail today. From parking to Ljubelj hut took us 35 min, from hut along ridge to Vrh Ljubeljščice 2 hours. Could go faster too, but we weren't rushing, and safer if on most exposed spots haste is swapped for caution.

From Triangel to Zelenica hut 10 to 15 min descent, from hut back to Ljubelj parking ca. 45 min - depending on leg tiredness. Whole loop without stops lasts good 3.5 hours.nasmeh

On Saturday over Ljubeljščica ridge and further over Begunjščica. The, as some say, last high mountain weekend without winter gear this year. We'll see... For now no special features nasmeh

What condition are the fixed protections on the ridge? Somewhere I read it was damaged...

This summer everything was normally passable, maybe some peg pulled out, but can bypass without trouble. If something collapsed in between, really wouldn't know.

Protections are few, 2 short sections and they are in perfectly fine condition. Maybe a bit "worn out", but not so that it's dangerous because of that.

From 'old' Ljubelj to Povna peč some went in recent days, but for continuing obviously no one had the will or whatever needed so I didn't have to bother with trailbreaking today.
In afternoon time sinking to knees and on quite a percentage of ridge also to rear end and here and there even to waist. Snow heavy, steel cables that in summer months maybe play some role are mostly under snow - first one somewhat out in upper part, second when going up gully deep under white blanket.
Wind played its serenade moderately and sun showed itself properly to my joy and also torment.

There were no human tracks, while paragliders are more frequent visitors to the ridge4

Today hiked Zelenica- Spodnji Plot ferrata - Along ridge to Povna Peč - Ljubelj Hut.

Snow on path to Zelenica quite some, but doable without crampons, Spodnji Plot completely dry, ridge crossing practically snow-free except one patch. Path very crumbly, caution needed. Views super.

All together 3-4 hours with breaks nasmeh
