Yesterday we went on foot from Rateče to Belopeška lakes, around them and across Jezerska planina long and wide. We admired spring's arrival to these places, snowy mountain backdrop with Mangart in the background, reflected also in waters of both lakes enriching surroundings views with reflections. Fairy-tale whole path, path from Planica to lakes passed like a flash.

On return stopped at Zelenci, circled longer variant and saw that during day much snow melted in mountains.

Jezerska planina across the lake and in it

we all returned on the other side of the mountain

without Mangart there is no farewell from here

past here, in the background Ciprnik and Visoka peč

; ahh look, No. 36 is a ski teacher from Trbiž (one of those locals who skied from Mangart down the avalanche), that afternoon he went chopping wood because I met him there; redbull, did you see on pic No. 23 some have learned/stolen your "biathlon" style mežikanje

We imagined ascent to Zacchi hut in winter, but no sun there yet so went bit higher. For me viewpoint enough, but Jože wanted to Bivouac under Ponca. If further, he'd break trail all way, tracks only to paths junction, none to bivouac. Descended traverse below quickly, not very safe. Most don't reach viewpoint, less further.

On return hut sunlit with surroundings, really magical. Did loop, up hiking path, back snow road. Pity to miss, road empty, met cyclist & couple skiers. Beautiful views, didn't think path under Ponca, Vevnica, Mangart cliffs so nice. Worth it now though longer.
Really nice trip!

Hello, my partner and I visited Belopeška lakes and Zacchi hut today, together with the dog. No crowds in the morning, at the hut a young guy welcomed us and served us right away, beer is still 4 euros and they are very friendly.

At Upper lake around noon more visitors, all of us waiting for the clouds to finally reveal the view of the mighty mountains. And we got the sun too. nasmeh

On the road by the lakes there are works (traffic lights), from 8 - 18h they collect parking fee (4 euros for car, 3 for motorbike). Later it was still possible to find free P spot also on the road by Lower lake. In August probably different ...

Today I went from Rateče, part of the way on bike path, part through forest. When you reach the road, just a couple more minutes' walk. Around both lakes and back the same way, not to Rateče, but to Podkoren. Around upper lake the path is icy in some places.
