If you're afraid to walk an easy mountain path that's really little walked, then start at Klemenče cave. To it and on to Strelovec everything is well trodden and traceable.

On Sunday along this route. In the description on hribi.net still marked path, although it hasn't been like that for some time. Traceability though... can be done... with some feeling.

The ridge is no longer pathless, can be followed. Again - it's good to read descriptions beforehand and not reinvent the wheel... the latter can show in time zadrega

The "marked" past Rkljiva peč has been only for pathfinders for years. There are a few key spots where you wonder where to go?
From the 5* Hotel you two turned left to Konj. This one got fixed ropes about a year ago (before it served as a shepherd's passage to Covnik meadows), where there's a spring and pasture for sheep. From Konj you can't go along the wall edge to the Ute ridge (you noticed that soon). Need to bypass to the meadows and then up that gully to the ridge and on to Travnik.
In case you don't go left to Konj, continue up that wide scree gully to the ridge. Here you reach a nice viewpoint meadow (view to Okrešelj) where a hunting path leads on. Follow this well visible path another five minutes and left up into the gully that takes you to the ridge just before Travnik. As far as I remember I placed a larger stone on a bigger rock by this hunting path as a sign to go to the ridge. A few meters before the ridge you need to go on all fours a bit velik nasmeh

Once on the ridge it's clearly visible to Travnik. From Travnik on, find a path in the bushes that leads without much bushwhacking (as you two did). Continue and look for passages to the top of Krofička, nothing too complicated anymore.
Trobec, if you had parked at Plesnik you could go from Klemenča at the lower junction via the tunnel path and come out at Razpotje - shorter for you.

Thanks for info. Yes, from the hotel on it seemed more logical up that gully under the wall to the top. But the left one was much more trodden. Didn't want to tire my colleague too much...although...in the end it seemed harder velik nasmeh

Stop at Dom planincev was already planned...and the weather just confirmed that choice... zadrega

I went on Saturday, left the car at Plesnik, continued to the Palenk waterfall and from there to Rkljeva peč without major issues. The path is more or less visible, some faded marks also help. Continuation on macadam to the bend with cairn and mark, here we head right. Here the path is no longer even visible, I actually just went straight up to the tree with red wooden arrow pointing right. We reach the marked junction, continue left towards Icmanikova planina and then to Strelovec. When we reach what I'll call the Strelovec ridge, it is on the left side, we can visit it, it's very close. Our path goes right but we soon leave it. We don't follow the marked path long, at the branch continue left, marked goes right. Follow the path to tall nettles, descend a bit to the first gully where we head up then again down and right crossing scree and heading to the wall, further helped by ropes, here the path is well traceable. We reach the shepherd hut under Utami. Then from the hut left on visible grassy path and up. Initially I stayed more on the right side of the wall, higher turned left and as geppo mentioned landed on hunting path, which I followed until I saw the cairn on the larger rock. There with some scrambling but without major issues up to the ridge. Along the ridge to Travnik the passages between bushes are well visible and the path can be followed, harder to find passages from Travnik to Krofička, but once in the Krofička wall up to the summit without major issues with some rock climbing. Back on marked to Koča na Klemenčji jami, then through the tunnel to Plesnik. All in all the tour is long, orientationally demanding but also beautiful and practically without people.
