Kriška gora/Tolsti vrh

Today from Gozd through Ježa to Tolsti vrh and along the ridge to Kriška hut. Down below it was blowing hard, I almost turned back, but luckily the wind eased with altitude so there was the least wind on Tolsti vrh. Overnight a little snow fell, so really winter scenery, but don't go up without crampons, because under the snow there are icy patches hidden. The hut was open today, the path itself without special features.

Last Saturday from Gozd to Tolsti vrh, conditions quite solid, wind was blowing nicely and blowing some snow a bit, but nothing worse. Path trodden, passable, mandatory crampons.

Further along the ridge to Kriška. Path not trodden, lots of wind-blown loose snow and in some sections quite dangerous for slipping.

Today from Gozd through Ježa to Tolsti vrh and along the ridge to Kriška hut. A bit before the top of Tolsti vrh there is some ice on the path. On the ridge from Tolsti vrh to vrh Vrata, there is still quite a lot of snow, crampons very welcome. From the hut on Kriška gora towards Štefanova klopca the path is very icy.

Some Thursday snapshots from the nice circular trail in wonderful, sunny weather. Starting point at the shelter in Gozd. Kriška gora-Vrata -Tolsti vrh-through Ježo-Shelter in Gozd. Unfortunately, the photo camera broke, so only a couple pics from the phone.

Dom pod Storžičem, V.Poljana and to Tolsti vrh, waited a good half hour for the sunset.

Ljubitelj gora, you were at M. Poljana, not Velika, which is still 15-20 min walk ahead from Mala. Also on 2nd pic is M. Poljana. FYI jezik

Kriška gora - vrh Vrata 1591 m

I first heard about this peak only last year, when we looked from Lomske doline towards Tolsti vrh. Maybe it didn't have a name before, maybe they've only made it popular in recent years, set up a table with bench, sign and marked it well overall. Quite handy goal now, with incredibly nice view and about 20 minutes from Kriška gora, where most visitors stay. And that's right nasmeh

In all this time one kinda forgets paths and views, since last visit to this circular path was almost fourteen years ago. But we said the next one will be much sooner nasmeh

today they will have to pick up the decorations

Hi, which direction do you recommend more for circular path from Gozd - up through Ježo or down?

Interested generally, not necessarily winter.

I always go up through Ježo to Tolsti vrh and along the ridge to Kriška gora one way and down to Gozd. But through Ježa at some spots quite dangerous for avalanche.

Today on the path Gozd - through Ježo - Tolsti vrh - Vrata - Kriška gora - Gozd.
Paths are normally passable, partly bare, partly snowy, take crampons along and decide for yourselves if you need them somewhere.
It was a nice hot day surrounded by beautiful views. jezik

Kriška gora - vrh Vrata 1591 m

Some snapshots from today. On top warm and no wind. Today path normal passable, no ice on path. Views wonderful.

After eight years again from Tržič to Kriška gora and Tolsti vrh. For descent from hut we found abandoned trail to Brčov rovt. Steep! After initial getting lost we caught it, and enjoyed descent a lot. Trail occasionally adorned by old mark or line. Lower, where it splits, we noticed the other "marked" with blue arrows, which spoiled mood a bit, as they are really nice trails in steep nice terrain.

After tiring holidays at the start of the year one shorter embarrassed

Freshly whitened, but very little snow. We're talking about only a few centimeters. So nothing particularly wintery conditions...less than it looks like in the pictures tongue

On Saturday I checked what the wind had done in these parts. Well, quite a few spruces are down, but the passability of the paths isn't that badly affected, especially not to the point of being particularly dangerous.
