How about skiing down the road in the Krma Valley? I'd appreciate a comment on this too. How far can you drive up? Thanks in advance for the reply. Igor

Hi, interested in current conditions for staying in the hut. Can you buy anything, water, food, coffee, tea, ...? What's the temperature in the rooms, since they're not heated, 10, 15, ..? Other peculiarities.... Thanks for the reply and safe steps.

You can get everything. At this time the rooms aren't cold yet.

Hello I join the answer above. Now there are weather observers up there on shifts, accommodation, hot meal, drinks, everything available throughout the winter. They are friendly, no other peculiarities

The banging quieted down around half past twelve and five hours of sleep was quite enough for the first night of the year. Road through Krma in super condition, only at a few spots the undercarriage 'announced' itself due to (too) deep wheel ruts. Because of cars already parked at the end of the clearing I didn't dare to go to the end, so I leave the car at the bend by the trough. Again fingers on hands failed me, so in light run (with backpack and boots) I speed up the blood circulation. Good that no one saw me . Path well trodden, some hikers already returning from New Year's Eve. Snow just a bit more than two weeks ago. Wonder what kind of 'tracer' carved the track in new snow, as he made a big detour on the largest plain. Short stop at Prgarca and easily to the second part of the path. Footprints in snow deep enough that crampons stayed in backpack, the last upper part so windblown that they would be an obstacle on boots, as it went nicely on dry rocks and scree right to the hut. Up top I stay a good hour, change clothes, appetite not the best as it strongly stank from the toilets. Really don't know how they arrange this elsewhere, as this stink is almost a staple here. Around hut strong wind, but I find sheltered bench outside too, where I put on crampons for descent, and also sit a bit on it, it was pleasantly warm. At Prgarca pick up empty packaging, crampons off only just before forest. Parking thinned out strongly as it's midweek, no visit to Dani either. But so I could at home cheer for Lanišek, later also for Prevc and stood calmly during the Slovenian anthem.

Great, nice pics. To your description just one comment. "apetita pa nisem imel najboljšega, saj je s skretov močno zaudarjalo. Res ne vem, kako imajo to urejeno drugje, saj je ta smrad tu že kar stalnica.angry" On this pressing topic I started talking more than 10 years ago. That means the situation is still the same. Best regards!

Thanks, Jelica! Situation same. Although a long corridor (stairs) leads there, where it could be solved quite well with double doors and fan. Doesn't bother the weather observers of course, as they're right at the other end of the building, the responsible Matičarji have gotten old and can't make it up there anymore.

Don't they cart the shit down to the valley? I thought that wasn't happening there anymore.

Right, Mato, shouldn't you mention that besides shit there's also piss, since without it stalactites wouldn't form in the cave under Kredarica. The info that the sewage is still not arranged was confirmed a while ago by the local TNP sheriff too.

How do they usually do it? Say in huts that have it better arranged or abroad. Do they actually transport all sewage by helicopter to the valley? It's probably very expensive and would raise service prices in the hut even more. Or do they just have better purification plants that clean the sewage better?

I haven't heard anywhere that they transport feces to the valley, but only at the Locatelli hut under the Three Peaks, outside on the terrace I noticed an unpleasant smell from the nearby purification plant. That there were a couple hundred visitors there at that time is of course known to everyone.

It's really not nice that words like stink, secretion, shit and piss are used in connection with our elite mountain post. Maybe it would be nicer and less disturbing if they wrote that where even the emperor goes on foot - IT SMELLS UNPLEASANT! Fried onion could help cover these unpleasant smells.

Which pub in the valley would be allowed to operate with such a stink!

I don't know how many times I've visited Triglav, and the stink really doesn't bother me, since I haven't seen the interior of the mentioned hut (mountain hotel if you will) yet

Yes, and you find them across the border. For example under the Durrenstein summit, it even has a pool. LP!
