Kot Valley

In June we're going to Rjavina and Triglav and I'm wondering if a mini-bus with 30 seats can get to the parking in Kot valley? Thanks in advance for the answer!

It's not possible to the Kot valley by bus. The road is quite stony, usually one climb before the end of the valley is critical to drive normally, as it's quite rutted - with low car almost impossible to reach, they've turned around before that climb. Last year that climb was in better condition though. At the end of the valley also not many parking spots, in June usually no problem yet, in main season you have to be very early to get parking.

Thanks for the answer, but how far with a mini bus?

If you want through Kot, it's best to park the mini bus before entering the valley:

https://www.google.com/maps/@46.437093,13.9309848,3a,60y,210.18h,90t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s1C2S_Y-xpPYUI3VcyJQauQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

There'll be quite a walk to the end of the valley.

Further into the valley there's a forest road that's narrow, even with a personal car meeting is only possible at a few spots.

I'm also interested in the condition of the road?
We don't want to scrape the undercarriage.

I was there on 24.6. with a regular car to the end. The road seemed okay to me. Some potholes, but there are also on other similar paths. Due to log hauling the road was muddy in places. mežikanje

Tadej's picture No. 3 has a mushroom from the waxcap genus. Before Črnobil, my colleague and I knew lots of mushrooms, then we didn't collect them anymore. The waxcap has many species from golden-toothed (edible) to fragrant (also edible). Yours is the spotted waxcap (Hygrophorus pustulatus) - edible. Possible mix-up with fragrant waxcap
(also edible, darker cap) and ashy grey waxcap (edibility unknown). As far as I know, none is poisonous. If I remember correctly, some are inedible - prlčeva, yellowing, reddening. With my colleague, we didn't collect them - just identified them. We have a great mycologist in the hiking club who actually knows every mushroom we encounter. And now here too a great mushroom expert - malenko.

Yesterday (Tuesday, October 6) rambling in Kot and above it. I started a little after noon. Despite the sun in the high areas, the path to Studenec with the international name "Keep it clean" nasmeh was wet, slippery, and above it watery. At the clearing that leads left to the saddle between Luknja peč and Rjavina, I turned right through the larch forest and on to the scree V Gubah under Ladja. A herd of chamois that was wandering there didn't pay much attention to me. To the ledges, along which PP comes from Požgana Mlinarica, I had only a few minutes left. With a little caution, I tested the sunny, about 100 meters long start of the exposed lower ledge. But a black, rainy cloud over Rjavina and other peaks soon hid the sun and made me think that, with the forecasted rain, this afternoon might not be ideal for exploring unknown steep grassy passages for me. I descended back to the scree.

I continued along chamois trails under the north wall of Luknja peči to Dimniki and then cautiously into the gravel gully that leads to Studenec. In the gully lie the remains of an aluminum chimney or chute eek. Lower down, in one of the ravines that the path crosses, a water flood triggered a long sandy slide. Crossing it is not demanding, but it is another sign of storms and landslides that have been raging in our mountains in recent years.

I thought it a shame to waste the day, so I decided to climb also to Požar (1543m), the peak in the long ridge between Pri Turnih and Požgana Mlinarica. The hunting path to it is exceptionally well laid out in zigzags. Only Biščkov studenec, which has to be crossed, was a real torrent yesterday. I reached the summit in the dark, it was windy, clouds were racing all around. On the way back, there was light drizzle, but no problems on the path.

In the whole afternoon, I met only one living soul, and that on the path to Požar.

Above Studenec the stream flowed right along the path.1

At night illuminated only by a headlamp, Biščkov studenec seemed even wilder to me, the crossing even harder.16

Hi! Is the road passable by car (say a lower one - Passat)? Will there be any problems or can you get there somehow?

From my experience, the road to Kot is better than to Krma and passable with some caution with any car. The current condition, someone else will say...

I was there on Monday. Road as always - bad, but can drive normally, slowly. If you have a very low car, better not.

Maybe someone knows if during the season on weekdays there's already a crowd in the morning and it's a problem to get a parking spot for the car?
