The path from the direction of Ljubenske Rastke is good, track made from altitude approx. 1000 meters and snow holds too - super for ski touring towards Travnik or Turnovka - snowshoes not needed

Can anyone provide the latest info on ascent to Komen and Krnes past the hut at Smrekovec?
I usually check the data in huts with keepers, of course first on the internet. When I called the mobile number of the hut at Smrekovec, which of course is at my expense, I couldn't believe that someone, a hut keeper who works with people, can be so arrogant. The conversation itself is not worth words, but from this gentleman I got no useful info, or none at all. How is it possible that this man treats his future visitors like that. Does he perhaps rent the hut? Feels like he's there for himself? Disaster!
Once again please for info?

Thanks for the effort. I know that link since I commented on the keeper's attitude myself but I think that's not right. When I wanted to know about snow depth and if there's a track the answers were I don't know then good luck and hung up. In short no info which means he doesn't talk to anyone. That day I called Ribniška koča and Dom na Pesku, plenty of info.
Sad and irresponsible from this keeper. I plan to inquire more precisely about this as PZS member I have some rights too at least to polite behavior.

Today's promising but worse weather forecast for the coming days, we used for a hike from Smrekovec (1577m) to Komna (1684m).
Two ski tourers and I with snowshoes (didn't need them, they stayed in the backpack).
Morning through Ljubno and up the steep road to Smrekovec. Road dry to the branch for >Kugovnik (cca. 30 min walk to Dom na Smrekovcu).
We started the trail at 8:30 and at the top of Smrekovec at 9:30.
Short rest and towards Komna. Snow holds, no sinking, otherwise highway from snowmobiles. Along the whole way we observe broken spruce tops and meter drifts. On the ridge the north wind forces us to put on hats and jackets.
Views magnificent (Plešivec, Peca, Golica, Raduha, K. and S. Alps, Golte and Šaleška valley, Savinja valley. Conditions for walking excellent, skiers struggled a bit..
At the top of Komna I stand at 11:40. Skiers wait for me at the bivouac and prepare snack.
We take photos, pack up and return. At the saddle we descend steeply to the hunter hut and road to Dom na Smrekovcu. Road tough for me, skiers happily glide. After 45 min walk I am at Dom na Smrekovcu.
Skiers set off again and I, already quite tired, follow on foot (14:10 at the car). They are a bit surprised that I came so quickly behind them.
We pack gear and sit in the car after a long time. Tomorrow small operation in hospital, hope to return to mountains soon.
Lp and safe steps in mountains until then..

Since these pics are so nice, I'm adding mine too. The path took us from home to Smrekovec, over Krnes and Komen. To Krnes we followed snowshoes, further we were alone but it went ok, sinking was quite fun, ptarmigan meeting too but they were faster than the camera. We enjoyed the solitude, which was disturbed on the return towards Smrekovec by snowmobiles - as many as 4. Boys went to training, to the first polygon, how silly that we didn't take photos of these heroes. Time was around 14 and the sound of snowmobiles echoed over Smrekovska planota. But about this problem elsewhere.
It was a great day.

Today on foot from Grunti direction past Planinec to Komen. Path good, bit more compacted it myself today, snowshoes not needed.

Grunti, Planinc, Goba, hospital, Komen. Made new track uphill, previous track below visible, from hospital on almost nothing more. Saddle drifts, quite fun. Down path along ridge by marks tracked.

New snow lured me to this area. From Ljubenske Rasti to the top of Komna. Below only a few cm of snow, in between 10 and then 10-30 cm. Snow is completely soft. No point taking snowshoes, they sink as much as boots.
