Today, 17.9.2008, I hiked the Kamnik foothills, namely in the direction Slevo (quarry) - Hunters' hut - bench - Kamnik Peak (1259) - Planjava (1243) - alpine pasture Osredek - Slevo. The trail is very nice, uphill quite steep, but no problem. Description of the whole trail is on this page, see under Slevo - Kamnik Peak (past the hunters' hut)! Otherwise, besides this nice trail, I would especially point out that I took a photo on the trail which nicely shows the current conditions in the high mountains!! So, use your head and lots of mountaineering pleasures!

An even nicer variant of the route is past the Koroša Waterfalls in the opposite direction, returning from Kamnik Peak to the starting point, that is the parking lot at Klemenčev (bus turnaround).

Variants around Kamnik Peak really don't lack. Which is the nicest and whose favorite ...

Late afternoon catching the last sun rays that day. Approach to the peak from the end of the asphalt, on the steepest path left along Rožica towards Planjava, and back to Kamnik Peak. Since darkness hinted to me very quickly, no rest this time, I descended like lightning down the steep Rožica ... Don't say, great slide (also balm for my worn knees), but erosion ... Tomorrow sunshine. All the best.

Today my colleague and I were on Kamnik Peak. Nice hike, no snow. We continued to the alpine pasture Osredek. There we took a short break and refreshed ourselves. We continued the trail towards Stahovica. I recommend it to all who hike in the hills at least a little.

That's how it was yesterday on Kamnik Peak.

I wonder if I can go up with my 7-year-old son? Maybe too dangerous for him?

If you go only to Kamnik Peak, there are no special dangers, but some parts are steep.

Also need caution because of snakes. I haven't seen any, but people say they can be...

The trail along the ridge (in the 1st pic from "volk") is really quite steep. I go up there often myself because that end is close to me and I go approximately the same path as "klavdipo" describes. Normally though I don't go there in hot and humid (summer) months as then there are three big pests: horseflies, ticks and snakes. For the trail up there recommend don't forget proper protection.

No alpin, I didn't photograph you two, because I was too far away for the photos to capture anything good. But I watched you - from Vrhpolje - and wondered who flies from Kamnik Peak on a relatively unfavorable day for soaring. Lots of good flights.

Thanks for the good wishes. As for soaring conditions, there really wasn't much updraft wind (thermals) to soar, but regarding safety, there were no concerns at all. On the top there was blowing some 3m/s SW-W wind, which was ideal for start. Paragliders for mountain flying are also adapted for a bit more turbulent atmosphere, because they have very high safety class. If someone is interested more about mountain flying, let them read this article. Best regards.http://www.kamnican.si/5472.html

Nice. (I almost fowš) By the way: judging by the pictures the flight didn't start on Kamnik Peak but on neighboring Planjava

Yes, for easier start, Planjava is easier and especially safer, I also went exactly from the left summit which is getting more overgrown.

Volk, nice pics, especially that one towards Planjava reminds me of morning soaring from the saddle (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zng3IeMkHfA.), as for the wish to fly off just say, I'd still go to a course or on a tandem.

Wonderful pics, Volk! If you have the guts for the jump, I give you full support, but I'm more of a "bunny" for such a thing. If you descend with a paraglider, you'll get hooked for sure and then it's "end", or rather - beginning.. Lots of fun, heinz!
